Dealing with some rain in JHB.
The water was not that deep, so no risk of electrical damage.
The main risk came from the hidden potholes on this road ☠️.
I had to crawl through this road while bakkies created waves driving past 🌊🌊🌊
Since the engine and its air intakes are in the rear of the car, the risk of waves from passing cars in the front causing hydrolock is low. The front intakes in the 911 are for cooling.
Anyway, just showing that a 911 can be used in almost any road condition, when driven sensibly.

Met up with another ducktailed Guards Red 991.1 on a run to Muldersdrift.

Picture taken from mate following us.

Fuel consumption for this spirited drive was a respectable 10.2 litres per 100km

The car has crossed over 60,000km. The next service (minor, oil service) is up next month.

Michelin PS4s last fitted at 39,000km are still in good condition. These are the best road tyres for performance cars, full stop.

Annual mileage has dropped a bit, given change in working arrangements at office (fewer days in).

Expected to be well over 60,000km by now.

Summary of issues since taking ownership at 32,000km in March 2025:

1. Lifting interior door panels. Fixed under plan.
2. Change over valves replaced. Fixed under plan.
3. Rear windscreen seal cosmetic only issue. Entire rear windscreen replaced under plan.
4. Small oil sweat was due to Oil Pump Solenoid Cover O-Ring. Fixed at my cost.
5. Usual brake pads replacement. Not an issue, just normal wear and tear after 23,000km of spirited and daily use. Replaced at my cost.
6. Alarm siren fault. Replaced under plan.
7. Sports chrono stopwatch little minute hand (the small clock inside the larger stopwatch) has dropped off. The stopwatch still works and the digital clock works inside it, so just letting this cosmetic issue be as is for now. Replacement clock is around R18k. The hand can be stuck back on, but the DIY process is complicated.

Not issues, but for noting:
1. Tyres replaced at 40,000km. The old set had decent tread, but being a garage queen (previous owner) meant that these tyres were old and not that grippy.
2. Porsche sports exhaust retrofitted at 50,000km. Sound has improved after longer distance driving.
3. Spare wheel and tools and jack purchased and added to front trunk.

The car is still solid and drives well. After driving my Volvo XC60 B5 Polestar Optimised car, I am being spoilt by the instantaneous torque on pull away and immediate response. The 991.1 needs revs to progressively build up its power, so the Volvo will pull away faster in traffic, unless launching the Porsche in full on launch mode. Ironically, the Porsche is the more responsible car to drive, since you need to be more deliberate with your inputs. Not complaining :)

Wacky Wednesday:)
