Hey Guys, Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

My 2009 BMW 335i E92 is in need of a new battery. Now unfortunately when I bought the car it did not have the correct battery installed so I can't get a like for like replacement.

From reading on the web it seems there are a few variations. Does anyone know what the correct battery should be for my car?

Thanks,

Hey man, from memory, it should be a 95aH non AGM battery.
When you get the battery make sure its coded and registered correctly.

Hi,

Yep, you're looking at a 658 Battery. Non-AGM also correct as mentioned above. Varta has been OEM for BMW for sometime.

Also top tip, generally the Varta batteries have slightly more capacity and cold cranking amps than equivalent batteries in the same size.

Thanks Legends! Will try and source a Varta battery and code it in correctly

Sorry to bring to life and hijack the thread. I recently bought an e90 and the previous owner replaced but did not register the battery. Can the battery still be registered and where would be the best place to do this?

Again. Sorry

No need to be sorry, just be careful.

You can go to a BMW dealer to have the battery registered, else if you have ISTA/Protool/MHD/Carly you can do it yourself, otherwise most workshops will have the tools to do it also.
