I saw a few guys do this on international forums and always hoped/prayed that I will never need to do this ever. Gees what a job!

Well done on getting it done though! Big kahunas to do this yourself!

Some updates.

Stage 3 Hybrid is on and we opted to change the design of the actuator to a forge one and using a gfb boost controller to try and optimize the power a bit better.

Also added 3.5 bar map sensors so they car can see if the boost goes beyond 1.5bar.

Which turbo manufacturer did you end up going with? I like that when you do something, that you dont skimp on using quality parts

This is an original Borg Warner EWG turbo that was converted into essentially a gt3076 hybrid.

Car should make close to 300kw on low boost and we're aiming for 350kw with higher boost levels.

So it has been some time since I last posted.

The car is about 90% there we are struggling with the knock sensors picking up the flywheel harmonics above 6000rpm so I think I will need to look at getting a single mass flywheel and clutch going.

Then yesterday after trying to log the car it started shaking heavily, Turned out my tires decided to let go on the fronts so I had to get them replaced before we could continue with the car.

The car has had a few revisions on the ecu now and we got it to a point where its as safe as possible with it being a track car mainly. Boost is being kept at around 1.4 bar and timing is quite low to try keep it running.

Max power was 305WKW but this was when it would pick up the super knock on cylinder 6 and we decided to turn it back just a bit. Currently it has just the slightest misfire in the higher gears but it feels much more linear and smoother throughout the range. Its also suspected the actuator currently being used isn't giving enough motion to allow for better control so that is also something to change and see if it helps in future.

Here is a short video of the how the car sounds.

Do you think the wastegate spring needs to be changed? Could that be affecting the actuator or do you think it's just a faulty actuator?

It's a knock off actuator so it's probably just not good. The plan is to get a turbosmart one.

So I managed a 2nd place finish at Zwartkops for my class, However the car was not behaving it seems with the semi slicks it adds more load than on the road even so the car goes into limp when you plant it in 4th gear.

Regardless I managed to improve my PB by 0.5 seconds so Im quite confident the car will be able to do a 1:12 ish around the Z if I can push on it harder.

How would you rate the Vila Racing series vs attending normal track day events? I assume you were there the past Sat.
