Hi guys,

My 2001 E39 530i blew its head gasket and its overheating. I'd like to purchase a new engine but I'm not sure if I should do a straight swap like for like or are there better options out there? Please help

in my opinion, stick with the M54B30.

Strip your overheated engine, Send the block, head crank and Rods with pistons to engineers.
Then resell the old/refurbed parts to recover funds spent on the new motor
