Xenon Projectors Finally Fitted!!

Thanks to Vsomai I finally got my Projectors and shrouds with some brackets to make the shrouds fit the projectors he sent me :)
We ran into a few problems here and there but in the end Vsomai was a very helpful guy and I definately recomend him.

So as soon as I got home I started fitment, I needed to cut away at the shrouds quite a bit to make them fit properly, but man oh man does the end result look good!! and the cut off beam is amazing!!

So here is my work in progress and some before and after pics, I took these pics tonight with a cellphone so the pics are not great, I will take a nice pic tomorrow in the day and post it up to show how nicely this came out.

So this is how the lights looked before the modification.

Here is some bits that I cut off, then sanded down afterwards to get a nice even surface.

Check how nice that cut out line came out, I just need to rotate the left lense slightly to line it up perfectly, but for a rushed job it didn't come out to badly.

and the light output, not that a photo can really portray this but it gives a bit of an idea, to show the nice even light distribution.

All in all it took me around an hour to do both lights, so it wasn't too bad, the fact that my light lenses just clip off does help, most of the time these lights are sealed and you need to put in an oven etc to open them.

Looks cool, well done

One small issue though, looking at this pic:

The projectors look like they are for a LHD car

RHD projectors light output should look something like this:

Nicely done osiris! looks the business!!!

sank - is it possible that an adjustment of the headlights could help that in anyway?

Unfortunately not...the cut-off is shaped that way so that when the two headlights are correctly adjusted (including side to side adjustment) the kink (in middle) of the cur-off is on the line dividing two lanes, no the idea is the one side of the cut-off is higher so that the light shines further ahead, this part should be on the side of the road that you drive, ie we drive on the left hand side so the left side of the cut-off should be higher. The other side is lower so that it is less obtrusive to the oncoming traffic. Now with it the wrong way around you will always have less light right in front of you and at the same time you will always be blinding oncoming traffic, something that will be made worse if you set the lights higher to compensate for the lower cut-off.
But this can be fixed, in some cases the plate that generates the cut-off in the projector can be removed and just turned around, or the cut-off part can just be modified to correct the cut-off (care should just be taken when doing this as burrs and the like on the cur-off plate will reduce the sharpness of the cut-off). Some projectors also come with the option of setting them to left or right hand drive. I know the OEM projectors on the e46 f/l has this function.

@sank could you please explain why the xenon looks uneven when parked in front of a wall? Like the left side is going higher

It is caused by there being a plate between the reflector at the back (where the bulb goes) and the lens in the front, and it blocks of the light in a certain pattern (reason for this is to give more light in front of the car and less light towards the oncoming traffic)

In general a projector looks something like this:

Edit ^^c^^ :)

Damn!

I hope you can just swap the plate around inside the projectors and not blind oncoming traffic :)

Otherwise, looking pretty sweet.

Finally some day time pics, my car is filthy, its in the Wash bay at work about to get washed lol.

@ moranor - Na they not xenons, they 6W high powered LED's from Electroman, I actually prefer them to my old xenon fogs I had in my 5 series, they easy plug and play, no ballast and almost as bright, I can literally drive using the LED fogs alone at night, and they canbus so they throw no errors.

looks great.

this is the cutoff/shield for a morimoto mini H1. doesnt look like you can easily modifiy this. Possibly you can bend out and bend in a new "half moon" very carefully.
