Enshitification continues.

Agreed that in SA G01 values are going to hold strong, however it will have nothing to do with the enthusiast take on the new design, and everything to do with how these will be priced. BMW worldwide sales clearly reflect that gen pop has no issue with the direction the brand is taking.

I really do not get the fixation with all the screens? They do not age well, look at all the older cars that started with infotainment screens and how they have aged, these big screens are going to be as redundant as car phone in a few years. There's a reason Pagani, Bugatti, and other manufacturers stick to dials they are timeless.

Call me old fashioned but I'd want at least a binnacle with digital or analogue dials and a separate screen for the infotainment.

The design is definitely EV inspired.

All I can say is that the G01 X3 M40i, M Comp, M40d and even the 30d will be highly sought after in the used car market soon. Those who own them now, please take care of them for us later...
I'll DM you in about 8 years time for my G01 30d🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely love it.

Stunning progression on the X3 design

Once kitted with some accessories, I'm sure it will be even better.

I just think people don't wanna see change, or their eyes are failing them badly, but mostly we all just love to complain...

That specific angle isn't bad but it just generally looks, I dunno, 'softer'? Especially head-on. G01 LCI just looks like a mean mother f@$%er in comparison.

My main gripe's with the interior. There's a fine line there - I'm very tech forward I love my gadgets, but gadgets don't age well. Interior designers need to keep this top of mind since a car has a longer lifespan than say, a phone.

Designers don't design for long term, they design nowadays for 2.5 years if you lucky and then max 5 years.

I mean look, for my personal self, I will never be able to get into any of these new cars when they new, or even in their 1st 5 years of plan, but from a personal perspective, I'm still a kid at heart and have dreams and aspirations .... G90 m5 Or G81 Wagon

This looks great, the rear however with the rear upper part looks a bit too protrusive compared to current models..that will take some getting used to but the front end does look good.

I think BMW is designing these cars for dark colour sales only ha ha ha!

Showee, it definitely feels "softer" and less aggressive looking. The interior feels a less premium and the RGB LED's come across as cheap and gimmicky.
Asus ROG is spot on, lol.

The exterior is not offensive but maybe a little boring, particularly the rear.

I moved from a G01 M40i Pre LCi to G05 M60i LCI ealier this year so have been living with the new big screens for about 5 months. In real life its a lot better to live with than you may think looking at pictures and reading reviews. It does take something getting used to, but at this point I just wish they kept the 8 programmable physical shortcut buttons. Even the AC controls in the screen is not an issue for me anymore.

A BIG plus of the screen is that they can do SW updates that would be impossible in a car with physical buttons, latest idrive update added a ASS disable button to the drop down menu and tweaked a few other things.

They have been doing updates to cars with physical buttons (even OTA) for years now. It's the telematics unit that matters for this. Either way you still have a tactile interface of sorts in the form of idrive and the shortcuts (unless the removed this in the G05 LCI). The thing I worry about is that they stop with the updates at some point or lock more of it behind different paywalls. (eg: with Merc you sometimes only end up with 24 months of use of something before they remove it).

The way I have to buy services on the M5 makes me think that one day it won't all be in a 'single' package and you will have to fork out for either different tiers or for the specific services. Well and good when it is nice to have stuff. Not so nice if they decide you only get single zone AC instead of quad zone until you pay a subscription... or they just continue copying tesla with things like letting you 'buy' a certain number of launches or 'levels' of acceleration... for the car you've paid for and which is sitting in your garage

Sounds like a Black Mirror episode. On the plus side at least there's an alignment of things we will not be able to afford and things we don't care for.

Noted on the updates, I just dont recall ever getting one for the X3.

Pay to play for activating fucntions built into the car is coming if we like it or not. I already see it in industry, for example we use HAAS CNC machines which we can spec with certain upgrades like memory, extra modules etc. BUT all machines come std with the hardware so if at a later stage I want to upgrade I give them some $$$ and they give me a code and I have the added functionality.

The X3 does not have seat warmers, I would have loved to have it built into the car as standard so I could activate it at a later stage by paying a premium, and from a production point fo view its often cheaper to build all the cars with the addons than customising them.

The only physical buttons remaining on the dash is volume, skip forward and back and some demister function, the 1-8 shorcut buttons are gone. They have retained the idrive controller and the buttons around it on the centre console.
