Some post detail pics (E46 M3 content)

Finally had some time to detail the ///M. Car has some pretty deep scratches which have gone through the clear coat, so not much I could do with those, except lighten them a bit - however, got rid of most of the surface scratches and swirls. Found lots of small uniform scratches, probably from poor washing techniques - did not go too aggressive on the compound though so you can still see some of the scratches, but not nearly as bad as before.

Looks like the previous/s owner used some sh!t colour based polish on the car. Could see it come off with the compound and found traces of it between the gaps - I masked out portions when using the compound and found I had a colour change from slightly orange to a deeper red on the entire car. Initially thought the clear coat was gone, but luckily it was above that layer. My front bumper would definitely need a proper respray at some point - it was done very, very badly.

Used the following products:
1) Sonax clay bar
2) Meguiars Scratch X (by hand on the bad scratches)
3) Meguiars Ultimate Compound (DA with a mild cutting pad)
4) Menzerna PF2500 (DA with a polishing pad)
5) Collonite 845 (DA with a finishing pad)

Did most of the work in the evening, so did not take before and during pics, but a few after pics.

Some close up:

And some ammetuer photos:

:bravo: good job. Your car looks so sweet. Not a fan of the E92 wheels on a E46 usually, but they look really good here.

Wow. Very nice!!

This car appears extremely "straight" with no waves in the doors or fenders. Something that has become very rare as time passed.

No detail on an ///M is complete without closeups of the shiny tailpieces :fencelook:

Managed to clean them, but they are badly scratched on the outside - a job for another day. My guess is that I'm going to have to wet sand them to get them in decent condition. Anyway, here's some quick pics of them in their current state. Notice the scratches on them :thumbdo:

So so damn hot!
The red really does pop with the slightest amount of work on it, so this finish makes it look EPIC!! Hope to see the car tomorrow if you coming!

An unmolested car that is.

Small areas receiving the attention they deserve from what can best be described as an OCD owner when finished it will be close to perfect.

On the pipes you may wish to use a scotch pad with rubbing compound slightly wet with water or dynamite whichever is handy.

The wheels btw are absolutely stunning on the car especially the red accents around the logo.....great detail touch.
