Ok I stop at a Shell. I'm New to diesel cars and I know only 50ppm is what I am suppose to use.

Now there are 2 types of 50ppm diesel to choose from. The one is nogal expensive the Vpower diesel. Is any one currently using it and do you see a differance in power or mileage?

What do you guys recon is the best diesel for BMW?

I used to love Engen but no idea what happened to that stuff but my car felt like a chico 1.4 after a few tanks.. when it first launched it was amazing fuel.

Filled up at caltex today and I can feel a slight difference compared to the engen diesel I usually get.. It's luck of the draw really, I have run shell and sasol before and could not tell a difference..

i usually avoid 500 ppm and thats my rule of thumb.
everybody has a different marketing ploy and to be honest i have found no significant difference other than maybe a few extra km's on a fillup.
i do notice that many shell stations have both the regular 500ppm which they market as diesel extra and the 50ppm v power and just a thought but maybe you missed a zero on the standard diesel/diesel extra sticker.

Have had the shell v power, the sasol and total tested in lab. Results very similar with cetane value 51 to 53. Overseas the diesel has a cetane rating of 55. On range covered and many tanks i have found the total to give the best consumption. I also like the fact that it does not foam so much.

Been using SASOL 50ppm that gives me the best consumption and Shell V power the best power.

All in the mind if you ask me. It all comes from the same refinery, in Cape Town at least. I would say environmental conditions have a bigger impact on how the car feels than fuel additives. How heavy my foot is one day to the next will wipe out any perceivable l/100km change. You would have to focus on one outlet for 100,000km before any noticeable changes in sooting / engine cleaning even by their own admission I bet.

Save fuel by going to the closet garage... 50ppm will extend oil life.

I Love learning on this forum, Thanks Phantom, never even knew how important the cetane value was, also reminded me that total does give quite the best mileage.:praise:

Driving a D for about 2 weeks now.

When i filled Engen 50ppm the car felt like it had a boost leak i thought i broke something. Car was eating Diesel. After i ran it out i tried Shell and it was abit better.

Filled up with Sasol on Saturday and i got all my power back. and my consumption dropped alot

Sasol FTW :joy:
