Nothing wrong with arranging a meet & greet.

What we dont allow or encourage is people creating threads on the forum, saying...all e36 members lets create a whatsapp group...blah blah. And the reason is simple...we dont want to redirect traffic away from the forum. Why should there be anything sinister about that position.

There are other platforms where you can invite people to form social groups - no issue with that.

Let's clarify:

The former "join our whatsapp group" threads were removed due to them attempting to gain traffic from the forum in order to form their own little clubs, such as "BMNation" or "BMNationSA" or whatever the hell it was.

This thread right here, posted by RK Motion, is event-related and is thus not seen as attempting to divert forum traffic. I'm not sure why a list of participants can't be started here instead and discussions continued here for others to read for entertainment purposes (as is the purpose of a forum) but I'm sure RK Motion has a reason for wanting further discussions to take place off the forum.

Seems like the admins roll in groups :)

:YesNo:

Big shots who like to pick fights in clubs are always more effective with their buddies standing behind them... Why should it be different with keyboard warriors?

I just figured out why he's called low flyer...

...cause he can't get his "joystick" into the upward position to take off and get to "paradise", so he flies low instead :mmm:

I don't see how this group will be different to the e36 group. It's a group dedicated to diesel bmws. It seems just because rk is a vendor it's ok. This group will have more members than the e36 group will ever have. And the e36 group is not the only group out there. And all these whatsapp group have admins or mods from the forum in these groups. I belong to groups but I still check the forum daily. This is not fair. Our WhatsApp group got closed because we didn't say meet or greet. In that case can we open a new thread cause I want to meet fellow e36 owners

Its very simple. As I understand it RK Motion is a paying advertiser. Why do they pay advertising fees? So that members may approach them as a recognized advertiser of the forum for their products and they are also free to post on their developments in products and services. Their client basis on the forum being the forum members.

So lets say we allow the creation of a WhatsApp group. Traffic gets diverted as its much easier to simply post a quick message on WhatsApp than creating a thread. Now lets look at the other advertisers. They pay the same fee for the same expectations but now some members have decided that they'd rather just chat on the WhatsApp group. So what happens to the value of the purchase of advertising rights? It diminishes as they group has now become smaller and a potential client is no longer a potential client. Same would go if other advertisers do this and now RK Motion loses out on potential clients to share their great products with. Those members wont notice a thread by RK Motion on the forum on their latest developments and awesome new product but simply get updated on the WhatsApp group on what the administrator of such WhatsApp group is offering.

This is therefore not to police members or others. Its simply to protect the advertisers who pay their hard earned cash to become advertisers on this forum with a certain expectation.

I hope this clarifies the matter and that we can all be civil and grown up about this. This is simply an explanation on why we refrain from allowing WhatsApp groups.

Hi Guys,

This group was created for forum users who want to see RK motion tuned BMW's. It is a temporary group which will be deleted after the "Meet, Greet & Ride"

Users on the forum requested this meet- it is our initiative to showcase what we as RKmotion offer.

The meet is a Private meet and therefore only open to users who have PM'd.

BTW- this is not dedicated to Diesel BMW's- it is ONLY a meet and greet; Again-it will be deleted.

Hope this clears the air.

I understand what you are saying. But then again if vendors are allowed to open whatsapp groups then they could be stealing sales that would have gone to other vendors on this forum and members within these groups will create their own groups which is considered stealing forum activity. I like rk's idea and I don't see why this can't happen more often with vendors meeting up with potential customers !!!

Thing is fair is fair. No preferences should be given

Vendors losing out on sales because they cannot keep up with interacting with members is none of the forum's concern, nor those who staff it.

Let me also state that this is not a protection policy towards advertisers and against members. Those who believe the staff are biased may send a PM to any member of staff so that we may discuss it with you in length, not here.

You are ruining this thread.
