60 seems to be the standard acceptable profile for AT, surprising BMW didnt spec BF Goodrich which is often accepted as the gold standard for MT tyres with a much more aggressive tread pattern.

I suppose at 1.2bar without all the other bells and whistles nobody is REALLY buying this thing to go outback in the Northern Cape or boldy going where no BMW has gone before

I was advised today that going for 255/55/r18 might be a better option, prettymuch same diameter but same width as the tyres on 19 inch OEM wheels.

So, I received a BMW SA customer/marketing survey link this week.

Basically asking what X3 20d spec I would vote for, then guiding me down to my perfect X3 20d
It seems they are looking to rationalize their trim/spec lines.
I voted against M Sport and instead voted for the Rugged spec, but declined all the fancy stuff (heated seats, pano roof, etc).

Interestingly, at the end of the survey (which uses a decision tree logic), I saw the option for a poverty spec X3 20d with 18 inch wheels, no frills at all, for R962k. I was asked if I would consider buying a 20d new at that price. I was also asked if I would consider a 20i petrol RWD for R1xxk less, to which I said no.

Will be keen to see what BMW come up with based on all this feedback.....
