I sold my 745i E65 and replaced her with a C280 Merc... My bravery lasted 6 months! Mercs are for old farts! I sold her and bought the 520d motorsport! What a car...

I agree dude had a c200 kompressor 2007 obsidian black . beautiful , comfortable car but boy when the road got twisty was it a piece of shite .

Had 135kw and the wifes E90 320 had 115kw but going from the one to the other was a flipping experience power deficit or not

I'm a bit of a Merc fan, but I think the current C-Class (aside from the C63) is a major let down in all areas compared to the competition. My wife (who is not a "car" person) sat in a friends new C-Class recently and was disgusted at how poor the perceived quality of the car was compared to the E90. Now with the new 3 series out, you'd have to be a idiot to buy the current C-Class.

I'm a huge Merc fan and from personal experience, Beemers and Mercs are not substitutes, they are more compliments. There is a time and place for both.

Even as BMW fans, you cannot deny Mercedes their due. Their cars are amazing and even when compared to BMW, they can hold their own. I will admit though, in terms of driver involvement and dynamics, BMW wins.

Depending on what "ruler" you use to measure a good car, you may prefer one or the other, and after owning 2 BMW's, I have to say that BMW's have personalities, THEY ARE ALIVE!!

But everytime I get into a Merc... :praise: oh man... They are so sophisticated, so elegant, so discreet, so poised and composed...

In a BMW, you want to drive forever, but in a Merc you want to travel forever

Congrats. :bravo:

I must say though, the E-Class interior is such a nice place to be!
Driven an SLK 350 AMG as well, such an awesome car. 7-spd auto was a dream and the sound was a good 1.

As Caddy said, I would own both for different reasons entirely. They are both weapons, just for different situations....

Im am pretty sure pics of the 520d are now in order!

Just out of Curiosity. Why did you sell such a stunning car?

Thanks guys... to all those who believe that Mercs are such wonderful cars heres my answer:
1. The service plan sucks pay at 80thou upwards.. for what?
2. More plastic inside than a Tata Indica!
3. Put your foot down and you feel the power a few minutes later!
4. The E Class is a box on wheels!

Don't get me wrong, the engineering on a Merc is excellent but if you are young an ambitious.. a 5 or 7 is the way to go!

Yes, pics, please!

It's true, the two cars are from two very different stables! Historically, Mercedes-Benz has been conservative and BMW innovative and adventurous!

In my opinion, I truly believe BMW is a pioneer in pushing motoring to its present levels of technology. Yet, BMWs do not date easily. They become classic pieces of motoring marvels.

Go right back to the 328 of the '50s - steering locks and lighters then already!

Each era in BMW history has been streets ahead. But one principle remains - Sheer Driving Pleasure!

The 'feel' of BMW cannot be replicated! It has always been a driver's car!

There's just something special about BMW - it has its own DNA! It's really more than a form of transport! To, BMW has certain character, qualities and mystery that is timeless!

The W204 C Class has a pretty decent interior, when compared to the blandness of the E90.
As a drivers car, I cant really fault the C280. Perhaps not as sharp as the equivalent 6pot BMW, Merc do know how to build a drivers car.

The only real complaint my dad had with his was space, its far too small and rides a tad too harsh, almost as harshly as an E90 wiff sportspax

End of the day, tho, Each to his own.

I agree that the E90 interior is bland compared to the W204. However, everything that you touch/feel in the W204 just feels cheap compared to the E90. Maybe it's just perceived quality ...

Honestly, I felt that way about my friends E90 320i interior. To me, the W204 was classier.
Its been a few years since, and i must say the E90 interior seems to have aged a little better than the W204s.
