Hey guys this was my previous ride, what a car it was? I had to sell it unfortunately due to an increase in family size which explains the big, spacious ///M5.

Damn, I really miss this car. Modifications as follows:

2.0 litre bottom end balanced at fulrace.
Mk1 GTI solid lifter head with fuel injection system.
Mk3 GTI seats, fronts modified to tilt forward.
TNT branch and free-flow exhaust system.
Pioneer motorized screen head unit.
2 x 12 inch pioneer subs.
2 x pioneer tweeters.
pioneer 6x9's on the front doors in moulded panels.
2 x Pioneer amplifiers GM4200's ...I think?
17" Imola wheels.
crystal headlights
badgeless grill.
and the list goes on.

It was exceptionally clean and not a day goes by without me regretting my decision to sell this car, I really put alot of effort as well as cash into this car, I have plenty pics. (not digital, unfortunately) of the interior, motor as well as the sound. No I didn't enter any competitions, the SA racing pic was a show at Wesbank Circuit.

The gentleman that bought this car didn't have a clue as to the amount of effort that was put into this car and literally killed it within two months time......F##$% it was really depressing to see all my hard work and effort go down the drain. Life goes on as they say but when you put your heart into something it can't be easily forgotten.

Anyway I'm very happy with the replacement, just wish I could afford to keep both at the time? :bawling:

Dude! My first car was a 1986 Jetta Mk2 CLi. The 8 valve one though, not the 16-valve exec one. That car probably cost me about a grand a month to maintain... and that was nine years ago! After 18 months my sister took it over, in which time it chowed one more alternator before we sold it. Shortly after we sold it to a dealer (who was dumb enough to sell it on with a warranty) it required a costly CV-joint replacement. Fun fun fun...

Then I bought a Corolla. With all due respect to the beemer, that was the best car I ever owned (reliability wise). I didn't have to budget for repairs, because it never broke. We still have a Tazz as backup, and according to a contact who works with stats, a sizable proportion of BMW owners have a Toyota as a second car. Now that is a number I'd be more interested in :p

I actually owned one of those CLI 16v Jetta's...

Also did a great deal of repair work on it, gave crap constantly, cost me a fortune, but when it was running :nono:

I'm actually looking at buying a second car as well, just not sure what car to buy? It will probably be a Tazz, for the missus. The M5 will be parked off most of the time after the extensive/expensive repairs/maintenance it is going through at the moment.

If you're looking for a Tazz, try to find a 2002 model with the 1.6 4A-FE engine. The 1.3 2E 59KW engine is all fun and stuff (if you rev the living daylights out of it) but the 79KW of the 1.6 in the 850kg body of the Tazz is a better combo. Also see if you can find one with AC.

My wife has a special edition 1.3 with AC (the so called ruby edition). We took it for a drive to Darling one Saturday and top speed is about 130km/h (with the AC on), with the foot planted firmly against the firewall.
