My (hopefully not a project) Z4M

Having recently completed a rotation around the sun, my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday, the only thing I could think about was a good knob. So forwaded her a quote for a F10 M5 knob and voila, I am a very lucky man

The knob in question

Pull it apart to attach to the Z4 surround - was a bit finicky, but came out better than expected

Mmmm, peak knobbage... The leather around the surround is a bit thicker than the Z4 leather, but I hope with some hot days, it will "squash" and fit a bit better in the plastic surround

Otherwise the Z4 has not seen much use lately except for an unfortunate incident where it kissed my garage wall so I now need to repaint the front bumper 🤬 This is literally the first time in my life I have scratched a car, and it had to be the Z4 😖 I was not even drunk, it can only be blamed on incompetence

Take a razor blade and shave the back of the leather where it fits under the plastic
I did consider this as it is a done thing, but figured I would just be poking holes in the leather...What razor would one use? Like one of the wifes shaving razors? Anyway, Id need to take it all apart again and reglue it and it isnt that bad, so will live with it as it is

That gear lever appendage looks good.
A Stanley knife blade can shave the leather thinner to fit the surround
