Thank you gents, for all the well wishes and comments!

Just used the car to the airport today to drop off some family members and the overall space difference is VERY noticeable. The traffic was horrible though and the big size of this does make it a bit more cumbersome to take tight gaps and hoon it like I did with the X3. Perhaps I need to get used to the car a bit, I remember feeling this way about the X3, when I jumped in from the E46/E90.

That is most definitely the best specced 30d I've ever heard of, on top of not cutting any corners when it comes to maintenance. What's the mileage?

Exceptional find, enjoy.
@GravityLee I am sure there may be a few more better specced 30d's out there but this one ticks every box, and then some (for me). For posterity these were the big items done, I just need to check a few more invoices to see if I've missed anything.

Post Plan:
- Front door auto mechanism at 94k
- Gearbox, transfer case and diff oils at 80k
- Full brakes (discs, pads, sensors) at 78k
- Control arms & output shafts at 75k
- Pirelli P-Zero tyres at 68k

Under Plan (expired 07/2021 at 65k km):
- Vibration dampener at 65k
- Engine mounts and belt tensioner at 64k
- Air suspension bags and control unit at 63k
- Tension struts and ball joints at 62k

Car has been serviced every 5k at BMW with the second owner, this was a massive selling point for me given BMW sludge-builder intervals. Mileage when I collected was 95k, a bit higher than I wanted initially, but everything else made up for it.

Hard to believe its been over 6 months with the X5 already, a very capable and worthy upgrade from the F25 - a SAV I consider to be the perfect allrounder. This 'car' has done it all in the past few months from daily duties to long distance trips and it has performed amazingly well in all situations. Wanting more space, I had hoped this would fit the bill and it has certainly done so, the 30d engine is also such a treat coming from the 20d and the other (larger) reason for wanting to upgrade.

Month 1 into ownership and the car was already booked for a tune thanks to @Xcede Performance and what was meant to be an initial read turned out to be stage 2 ECU and stage 3 TCU flash. I also had Juvan do a few custom coding items whilst we were busy on the car:

- Auto start/stop disabled
- Warnings set to 3 alerts with Rolls Royce chimes
- Tyre pressure temperature
- M performance iDrive boot screen

The car was then booked in with @Nishen@tmss for a DP as you just can't have software modifications without some hardware to compliment it. I also added a K&N flat pan filter for some added noise and the car now sounds really good - just the right amount of turbo spool, induction noise and growl. The combination has Xceeded my expectations and I hardly ever find myself needing to use more than partial throttle, approximate gains are 50wkw and 120wnm - It can certainly be felt and helps this behemoth feel a bit lighter on its feet. Something @Trevino27 can attest to, having had a quick hoon post the work being done.

I have already covered over 6k since collection and have done quite a few road trips, this is the perfect long distance cruiser for eating up the miles in relative comfort. I had done a trip to the North West shortly after collecting it and used it through Pilanesburg on some pretty heavy offroad sections and it handled that remarkably well.

Post the 5 hour drive in the bush.

After a good wash and polish, on the way to a family photo shoot - would be a crime if I didn't take some pictures in this setting..

With the F15 being a fair bit larger than the F25, my garage needed some 'adjustments' to the cupboards I had installed prior to moving in. The current situation required someone to stand in the garage and be a human PDC. Thankfully I have set the wheels in motion for a renovation that will give me a 4 car garage space, so this is just an interim solution.

An ultra rare shot of all the cars outside the garage.

I had the car booked in at JSN for an oil service just before I could do the trip down to Durban, as it was due to hit 100k on the trip. Seemed like an X kind of day at the dealer.

On the way down to Durban a few days later.

Mileage Milestone & stellar consumption - Not bad for a fully loaded 2.5 ton SUV considering speed and distance travelled, I was pleasantly surprised.

A few pics with Trev's X3 once he collected.

I also attempted to wash this mammoth at home one Saturday afternoon before a short road trip and it was quite the change from the cars, a lot more 'real estate'.

Some pics from the Harties trip with another member's new acquisition, I will wait for that to be revealed at some point (hopefully) soon...

I may be biased but I personally think this is such a good looking vehicle and couldn't be happier with my decision to move to the F15. It has met and surpassed the expectations I had for a larger family vehicle and I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend one. Having already successfully helped @Yulz9081 take the F15 plunge.

That's all for now - a picture of 3 generations of X5 to end this update

Nice write-up and thread about your new wheels, read it all! I'm toying with the idea of getting one for myself as a daily.

How do you find navigating pot holes with your wheel/tyre setup? Having been up to Jhb a lot recently, the roads have become quite bad in GP. I need a pot-hole-friendly car and I'm not sure about these m-sport 20s. The non-Msport f15 wheels don't look great at all.

I haven’t had any issues with 20s and Pirelli RFTs. Couple of pluggable punctures but they were all due to shit lying around in our parking garage at work.

Compared to my other SUV the F16 does go through front control arms at a much higher rate though.

They are fantastic daily drivers, once you get used to the size in and around town. Very comfortable and still dynamic, for what it is.

No issue at all with this wheel set up, but I do my level best to avoid potholes, etc. Ride is more than fair, considering size, especially with runflats. There is a 19" option that has a bit more rubber, depending on your use case.

Just like that its been over a year of life with the X5 and the adage of time flies, is getting more and more apt as the years tick on. Its been a tremendous family car and has pretty much covered every need we have had as a family of 4. I've managed to put on almost 15k km in the last year, which is a lot by my standards.

Not much to update bar one big one, for me.. In my area there are probably over 10 F15 X5's in white, silver and black that I have counted - I always thought the F15 had great styling but the fact that my car blends in with all the stock ones around me, was something that irked me and I decided late last year to give @FiRi@Rennzport a call to see how best to remedy this..

What started out as just a change to the grills, ended up being a full catalogue of Mperformance design parts - I ordered the single slat grills from eBay to test the look, in tandem I had Firi arrange all the other bits to complement the grills but sadly when we tried to fit the grills, they were both for the LHS..

Turned out to be a stroke of luck - I quite like the chrome complimenting the headlight's silver trim, as everyone with the kit has gone for black kidneys in some variation. I also opted not to fit the rear diffuser extensions as they don't work for me with those massive side spats.

Might not be to everyone's taste but I love the look.

- MP Front Lip
- MP Side Skirt Extensions
- MP Diffuser
- MP Rear Wing
- MP Mirror Caps
- Glass Projector Puddle Lights (Black and White, of course)

December was the obligatory drive down to Durban, snapped a few photos on the trip. Impromptu meet up with another Fanatic.

A few pics at my parent's place, post a wash at my ex-local car wash because the car was embarrassingly dirty.

Stellar consumption on the up run methinks.

A visit to my local tyre shop was due upon returning, thanks to the mess that is Durban roads. The state of roads there have fallen beyond disrepair and I could not imagine having to put up with that on a daily basis..

With my wife needing to be back at the office and my son starting school, I no longer had the luxury of using the X5 to the office and so began the story. After using the 30i/M3 for school/office runs, I was tired of my 'garage queens' having to slog in traffic and bare the wrath of imbecile drivers, no, really...

So I decided to do what any sensible petrol-head would do, buy another car for the daily grind... As if I really needed a fourth car, much to my wife's dismay. I will start a separate thread for the daily.

That brings the thread up to current - just a service due in the next few weeks and it will continue to serve its purpose as the daily/family hauler.
