The tire sizes you specified (225/45 front and 245/40 rear) are probably for 17" rims.
You may have to use lower aspect ratio ones for 18" rims.

Have you had a look at E46 330i Motorsport rims..?
They maybe easier and cheaper to get hold of.

They are 17" but great looking - i have them on my E36
On the downside- they a bit of a pain to keep clean

I have my heart set on M3 replicas, whether diamond cut, CSL or GTS. I upgraded from my initial tyre set-up of 205/50 R16 to 225/45 R17.

Am I looking at a staggered set-up of 235/40 R18 front and 255/35 R18 rear?

E46 328i has LOOONG LEGS, not slow either...
