N54 life been keeping me away from my e36 but she demanded attention. Started smoking when you get on the throttle and I started planning the repair and upgrade. so last weekend I had time and did some work. Initially it was just a rebuild, then i wanted to go M50b30 stroker but finally ended up with the below:cartel:

have not posted anything here in a while but figured it might be the right kind of motivation to bring this car back to life.

Since my last post i have removed and sold the m3 s50b30 engine. The car is currently running(very poorly) an m50 engine with s50 headers and she is hanging around on temporary bbs ck19" wheel setup that belongs to my e92

I have acquired the following parts for the new build:
M54b30 rotating assembly to see for myself what the stroker 3lt m50 is like:

- A very rough looking Msport rear bumper - Finally. I always thought of this as unessesary but it really makes so much difference compared to the stock bumper

And finally the new wheel setup:
Super rare vintage staggered Racing Dynamics RGP's from italy - front 8.5J ET13 and 9.5J ET20 rears. Pretty aggressive but so were the borbets that previously graced this car. The wheels are almost as old as the car so do need a refurb but was really not gonna pass them up :)

Much more parts to acquire and so much to do but im pretty excited to drive this thing again.

Thanks for looking (y)(y)

Definitely looking forward to this build. Loving the hard top! I just love the lines of the E36 vert!

Why did you get rid of the M3 engine just out of curiosity?

Loving them Racing Dynamics
they will work proper on E12/ E28/E34
Offset is aggressive
yeah...im still trying to figure out how to mount them. A previous setup with the 10j borbets was done with skinny tyres and camber but im really hoping to somehow get these on with propper rubber....

Im rocking a set of 17 OEM alpinas 8.5j all round but ET 12 and ET 14
They fit my 4 door E30 with 325iS suspension but offset very aggressive. they fit but phat phat lol
The throwing stars fit like a glove because ET 20

So still on track with this "build"

Motor is complete. Running very well with 330i rotating assembly and a non vanos intake cam on the exhaust side. I asked the machine shop to shave 2mm off the face of the cam(where it mates to the sprocket) for perfect allignment with the secondary chain drive

Still required is an m54b30 intake cam with tray and lifters - DM me if anyone has this pleaseIMG_4370.jpgIMG_20211025_211624.jpg

While it was out, i also gave the ZF transmission some love. If you have one of these and your shifter is always leaning towards 5th gear, buy the following parts from BMW - old 5th gear bush vs new one.

DYI procedure here

Day and knight difference in shiter feel. with my short shifter, it feels like a totally different car now. Nice, notchy, spring-i? :D

Parts are quite cheap so would recommend if you are taking a zf box out for clutch job etc

LS DIFF

Found a neat little E30 LS diff and transfered the guts to an e36 medium diff casing. Gave the parts a lick of fresh paint and installed into the e36.

Tag says 40:11s so that 40 teeth on the crown, 11 teeth on the pinion = 3.64 ratio. Short but so much fun on the streets

She is all back together but still on jack stands. to do:
- Restore the wheels - strip, paint and polish
- Have the door panels recovered
- reinstall side skirts
- Restore the paintwork
- Hopefully enjoy the car on the road again before winter 2022 God willing
