Took the car off the jacks last night. The car is now sitting 30mm lower.
What I am extremely pleased about, is the lack of steering play. Previously that car had quite a bit of play on the steering wheel. Now there is virtually nothing.

Before the drop I had 80mm from the wheel arch to the tyre. :mmm::mmm::dropjaw::dropjaw:

Like clutchy said, you NEED to drop an e34. They look K*K.

Agreed on the needing to drop the car bit, it will change the look and stance of the car completely giving it much more road presence....

Jip, thats WITH a 30mm drop. I did not want to go too aggressive in the front, seeing that I don't want to drop the back. Don't want a car that looks as if it is going to scrape up the tar as it is driving down the road.

Thanks De@no.

Yeah, the gap was so big between the tyre and the wheel arch, you could loose a Smartcar in there.

Aware of that, but noted that there is still quite a gap between the wheel and arch - now confirmed by Jandre to be 50mm. E34's with standard suspension setup do stand nose proud kinda like a "huge ship rearing up"...:)

Guess it comes down to the owner, if he is happy with his car then that is all that matters...:thumb:

Looking very good Jandre.

How is the ride with the shocks and the control arms, were those shocks good, and how did you manage to do the drop ?

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thx helllas. @ lz, I have not really driven the car, just went round the complex. Want to get her back on the stands to recheck all the nuts and bolts. Will hit the road on the weekend. Rick said the shocks is still good.

The problem with lowering the e34 except the m5 is the rear toe and camber that is not adjustable. What you get with a aggressive drop is a car that doesnt wana track straight because of negative toe of the rear wheels, youll be all over the road.

Took the car on her maiden drive this afternoon. Still got the vibration at just under 80km/h. It shakes badly.

Apparently according to Supa Quick the rims are straight. The lcabs and shocks are now good. Wondering about the upper control arm bushes.

First things first, back to Supa Quick to recheck everything.

Does the shaking get worse while braking?
Usually it is the upper control arm bushes that, if shot, cause the most shaking.

So when are we doing a manual swap. I know of three V8 5-speed boxes if you're still interested! :sneaky:

Problem solved. The right front wheel was out by 80 gram:dropjaw::dropjaw:

Fixed that, and did on-car balancing, and all is good so far.

Hmmm, 3 gearboxes you say? Tell me more...

Maybe I should start collecting parts, slowly but surely.
