Congrats, nice car! My first BMW was almost identical - same 2 dr model, engine, colour, but had a manual gearbox and cream leather trim. I would buy it back today if I could.

Thanks gents. I am actually surprised at the power delivery, 120km/h in second gear :cartel: I will not say what speeds I've reached :nonono: This car is fun to drive but would definitely be more fun in manual.

I will post a TLGP with an E39 540i soon, despite recent news regarding a certain BMW :fencelook:

Looks great!

Was this car sold from roodepoort/west rand by any chance?

I was following a similar looking one on OLX..

Wish you many safe and happy miles :=):

Yes, it's the same car :smilebounce:

Congrats bud.

What is the condition of the dash like? I noticed the dash carpet in the one photo.

I did a dash swap on my car a few years ago, and still have the old dash in the box in my garage.

It has a few cracks (6 or 7), nothing too severe. If you are interested. I am in Cape Town.

The dash has carpet glued on it. The previous owner said it has cracks but I'm not sure how bad it is. There are guys in Pretoria that recover these, so will probably go that route. Interior is last on the to-do list.

Service was completed two days after I took delivery. Used thick oil to run for 1000km on advise because was not sure of the condition of the motor and will do another oil change with synthetic oil. Mileage is at 200xxxkm. But since then I'm quite happy that the engine is healthy.

The petrol filter was a bit of a mission to replace :skit:

This is the burnt out aircon fuse, 10 amp instead of 30 amp :dunnoanymore: 5 other fuses needed to be changed

Oil drain plug was stripped :rage: so had to make a plan to seal for now. I have bought a replacement oil pan and gasket, and will replace with the next oil change.

Nice looking ride - mind if I ask what it cost? Also looking for a decent, solid, e30 coupe. Would be nice to get a feel for what one like this goes for.

Not gonna happen, my driving abilities (or lack thereof) don't allow :fencelook:

Was advertised for R49000. The main reason why I bought is because it's a coupe. Also I like chrome bumper coupes, there are not as many as plastic bumpers.

Haven't had much time to work on this car

Just did a few interior replacements;
Door handles
Door trim
Air vents were loose and always pushed air down

Door handles were shot. Driver side didn't even have one.

Got the replacement parts from bidorbuy.

The passenger side mirror electrical adjustment wasn't working. So while the door panel was off, realized that it was not connected. Now working well :=):

Door trim that covers carpet was missing. Could get it anywhere else but the dealer.

Don't mind the seat, the whole interior needs replacing :eek:mgwaiting:
img_8076_1604276369.jpg

The vents were always facing down and don't hold in upright position anymore. Due to old age, I think.
Took them off.

img_8007_4784501353.jpg

Got them cleaned.

img_8037_3051397763.jpg

Swapped them around and voila they hold their position.

Are you not just amazed though when you look at that picture and see how far we have come from 1986 till now in terms of 3 series development. I'm sure the engineers that worked on the E30 could have never imagined the F30

:bravo:

Yes engineering has improved leaps and bounds but looks-wise, I'm an e30 man :inlove:

The colour has grown on me and definitely suits the aesthetic of a classic e30. Can’t wait to see what it looks like when you’re done with it.

Haven't had any time to work on this car at all. Work, school and projects on the house are keeping me busy... I know excuses, excuses

Chromie is still going well being driven at least twice a week but still a long way to go to get her to tip-top condition.

Parking rule applied :=):
