Ok so I'm from Cape Town and have loved BMW's since I cannot remember and all I ever want to own is BMW's.
Here is my first car and progress getting the car fixed so far, it wasn't taken care of before I took ownership about 2 years ago.
I was looking for a BMW that was Manual, black leather interior, sunroof, and no less than a 2.5 straight 6 motor.
This was the car I found for the cash I had at the time.
My plan is to get the car mechanically perfect and then start on getting the body repaired
To start I did the brakes, discs and pads, but unfortunately I have no pics of when I fitted them.
I then worked on the cooling system which is almost all brand new, original parts were used, except for the water pump I haven't replaced yet but no need yet.
Some pics of the motor when I replaced the main coolant hose under the manifold, no pics of the actual pipe though.
Must say was not easy without taking the manifold off.
The biggest fix on this car so far was to replace the manual gearbox which had been run without oil and could not roll in gear had to keep accelerating or be in 5th gear to roll while in gear.
Unfortunately no pics of the box being fitted but have pics of the new box.
I actually still have the old one and trying to get it open to see the damage.
I had asked the workshop to replace the clutch as well but told me the clutch was still good so I asked what make it is and It was a LUK clutch so had it replaced with a SACH.
I still have the LUK clutch and plate and release bearing if anyones looking for a clutch kit.
All control arms replaced on the front.
Bilstein sport shocks were fitted to the front but I only have pics of when I got the shocks and not when they were fitted.
I had to order the shock mounts with the bigger diameter hole in the centre which took 2 months from Germany.
When I can think of more stuff that has been done to the car since I got it and can find the pics ill post more.
I still have a lot more I want to do to the car but as it my only car and I have a very small budget every month I have to take my time fixing it.
Im currently looking for a quality mechanic in Cape Town to rebuild the engine with care and quality workmanship.
The workshop I have been sending the car to has let me down too many times so I will never support them again so if any one knows who can work on my M50TU engine let me know please will be greatly appreciated.
