Subb'd..Looking good so far :clapper:

Thanks dude!

One of the rims had some slight curb rash that bothered me so I thought I'd refurb them all a bit. I like the silver on a black car but I thought I'd try something else to see if I like it. (I got other future plans that I hope will work well with this combo).

I didn't want to go completely black as I'm not such a fan because you loose a lot of detail of the wheel in my opinion. So I went with this:

I will get a proper picture in the sun where it doesn't look so dark.

Stay tuned for brake updates:cartel:

Looks great!

From the "kings" cards utilized as masking I assume you used normal spray paint to spray the rims? :slow:

Or did you powdercoat?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

This was a DIY job so "normal" spray paint was used. I've used normal spray paint before and it works great!

Powdercoat is harder and more resistant to damage yes, but spray paint works quite well.

Product used was Sprayon Castiron metallic spray paint.

Would you mind sharing the process you followed?

Ive sprayed motorbike rims in the past, and even tho I followed the following process it still started peeling after a few months.

Degrease > Wash > Sand with light grid sand paper > Apply Primer > sand again > apply several layers of spray paint in light, even coats, allowing proper time to dry.

Hmm that is strange... I follow the same procedure but in the past added a layer of clear coat.

This time however I did not as I wanted a slightly matt look.

What grid sandpaper do you use before applying primer? If its too smooth then the primer does not have anything to adhere to, that is mostly the case with paint lifting.

First of all I would like to say congrats on your BMW purchase. Your A3 looked good it must have surprised people with the turbo mod you did. I like what you did with your rims and tail lights I think it really goes well with your vehicle. Hope to see more modifications soon.

Thanks guys! The A3 was a nice little car. I had a lot of fun with it over the years. In the end it made 214 wKw at 1.1 bar boost (tune for stock motor). Lots more was to be had out of the setup but even so it was very fun!

Back to the BMW. I got a nice second hand set of downpipes over the weekend:rollsmile:

Thanks guys!

I'm enjoying this car so much you have no idea:praise:

Onto the downpipes install!!

Having read a few DIY guides on the internet, and everyone saying its a real pain to install them...

I thought I'd give it a try since I've done quite a lot of mechanical work myself. So a buddy of mine came over to help install them.

What I didn't realize was that most of these guides were for LHD vehicles. On the RHD models you have yet another obstacle in the way... The steering coulomb. Plus lying on your back in very cramped conditions isn't very fun.

So needing the car daily and not having got very far at 5 in the afternoon I decided to cut my losses and make it someone else's problem. I booked my car in at Tweek and they sorted me out.

Very happy with the install!! And the car sounds amazing:chef: Now just need to cut out the secondary CATS.

Stay tuned for pictures:cartel:
