na thats bulls!t...they must provide that information because what's stopping them from just cancelling the Motorplan of a 2nd hand car under plan brought to them thats gna cost a bit to fix. Just telling customers sorry we cannot disclose the details as to why your Motorplan was cancelled. Too bad

I have been through this with BMW SA.

Engine failure on a B58.

Motorplan was suspended with everything remaining covered except Drivetrain.

From my experience this is how it's going to go.

They will send you an official letter stating that it has been suspended, the reason quote some of the terms from the motorplan contract.

My reason stated was a Diagnostics fault related to DME tampering.

Once you get the official letter, forget about any further communication form them. THEY WILL NOT REPLY TO ANY OF YOUR QUERIES ! lol The dealer cannot assist as its with BMW SA.

My request was simple, a copy of the diagnostic report showing the error. After almost 2 months of not replying to the request, I eventually got a reply that they stance does not change, if I require any further information I can follow legal channels. Proof was never provided.

So, you can either accept your plan suspended or you can go through a long and expensive legal battle.

Also, through this, dont ever think that BMW SA give a fark about you and actually care about you as a customer. Your dealer may show some care, I was fortunate to ABM and they were really helpful and tried to assist as much as they could, during and after when I wanted to trade in.

Good luck !

Don’t think I can win this. It went from engine tuning to modifications in the latest email.
As i mentioned to you the other day, motorplan can void your plan for the fitment of any NON oem part on your car, its a pity they are not coming to the party and telling you exactly what it is. In their viewpoint, why does a stock car need powerflex bushings? This guy must be tracking or racing this car, if he is tracking or racing this car, there must be other mods or software that we cant see etc etc.... At the end of the day, you also have to take ownership that you fitted the powerflex bushes and whilst I dont want to see anyone lose their motorplans, there is also a saying, if you cant afford or dont want to risk your plan, then keep it stock or stick to M performance parts.

I understand. I actually fitted the lowered M Performance springs, Powerflex Bushes and Underbody brace from BMW because the car was feeling extremely loose.
And those were suspension modifications to hopefully improve handling. Nothing I thought would compromise the integrity of the car. I was definitely not used to a rear wheel drive car.

My whole issue from the start was they specifically mentioned “Engine”

I could have gotten lowered H&R Springs for almost half the price. BMW have no suspension bushing upgrades that I am aware of. It upsets me because I really tried.

For us guys that extremely enjoy modifying cars, I was reserved in what I did and specifically did not do performance tuning because of the warranty. I could have been driving a tuned car for the past year if I could see into the future.

Hopefully I have no drivetrain issues.

i suppose nowadays its strictly a business and youre a number and if you can be cancelled for a bush upgrade and they dont have to pay then its a win for them.

On the bright side.. you can start modding it now
Funny 😆
I thought the same. Just have to wait for the car to get back to me now. The tuning guy has not managed to sort out the Dyno and has not replied back recently.
Definitely want a before and after

Yoh, BMW is hard arse about this. But are you not risking voiding the full motorplan by it modding now? Remember this is at their discretion and if they voided drivetrain related claims from a sniff of a mod... what's stopping them from cancelling the whole plan?

I really don’t think that this was because of the bushings but what do I really know as they won’t give me the actual information. Also, just to be clearer on my side and more accurate, the bushings are actually just the inserts. I did not replace the original but bought those inserts that fit in to stiffen it up a bit.

If it was because of the extras that I had installed, it would be really silly as they should only improve the car with no side effects.

Not to compare or cause a debate. I previously owned a Golf 7 with a full exhaust, air intake, dump valve, Revo stage 2 and they gave me no stories until the turbo blew after 3/4 years which I had to pay for by myself as the warranty was already over.

Sorry to hear about this, but at least you can now go to one of our forum sponsors, get better service in regards to tuning. Plan gone, go have some fun!

There is still a warranty on everything else. Do guys on here actually do servicing and installation of parts....?
That would be good to know for after they stop servicing. Have been looking at LSD’s and M4 control arms. Probably install those in a year or so when the motorplan is completely expired.

Also BMW do not let you into the workshop but I really enjoy watching everything that goes down, whether it be repairs or upgrades

Just an update. The sensors it was sent in for have been approved. They said that I can pick up the car later today or tomorrow morning

On a BMW, the bulk of the costs would be drive train related followed by electronically controlled suspension or air suspension and brakes. I am not sure what story they might give you (increased performance wearing out the suspension sooner or brakes sooner).
