Some Interior and delivery pics as requested

Kashen from BMW Midrand put on a big show for us and made sure everything was great and little things I had noticed were sorted out. He sold me my F10 as well many years back (and tried hard to get M2C in a spec I wanted as well before). He actually had made a hat trick of M5 sales in a week with the conclusion of this one LOL.

The pics don't do the colour much justice. It is quite mesmerising. I can't see myself going back to Alpine White LOL

One of my key considerations going with the F90 was, of course, the shared motor with the F10 which I have a lot of confidence in having had one for such a long time and having known so many people who have had it. The FF was very close (I have always wanted a Ferrari) but no matter what power warranties or other assurances I had, it was just always going to irritate me that there might be a catastrophic failure (and associated wait time for repairs vs. Merc/BMW/Audi) even if it was covered by the 100K a year warranty.

The fact that the car is so quick off the line is incidental to the rest of the major upgrades one gets when going with newer cars. I do like the toys but ultimately as long as it has car play I am good to go. The B&W sound system is certainly a step up from what I've had before.

I felt that the F90s I had driven before were quite 'docile' and I never quite clicked with them. @FiRi@Rennzport and I had a nice chat about comparing modded vs. unmodded etc... this is the first that I came across with the exhaust, so much of the carbon and essentially a 'vision' of what I would have done to an F90 a year or two into owning one... That exhaust really does add so much to the experience and helped finally make the final call on this car (coming full circle back to the F90 from Porsches, Ferraris which had been repaired to various degrees and with various stories/services missing etc) and other 'regular' brands also!

The car is incredibly composed and (as with all M cars) feels far smaller than it really is in terms of proportions. Make no mistake: this is a BIG girl but she is very light on her feet... The rate at which it picks up speed is incredible even vs. my modded F10. Off the line it is next level. In gear it is comparable (I can only imagine what modded ones are like) and the noise (exhaust aside - actual engine noise) is also so different... More like a 63, but not as raw.... Overall it is quite sedate to begin with, 'better' subjectively than my Akrapovic+Downpipe F10 in sport.... Almost a bit too rowdy in sport plus. Granted this is an optional piece, but it really is what an M should be like out the gates and without resorting to aftermarket parts and solutions so that was a nice surprise.

The only thing that I do miss is the "raw" DCT feel that the F10 had... but admittedly that is not for everybody and it is a very first-world problem to have (oh dear my 4 door supercar is too composed and 'smooth' shifting for my liking LOL)

Hoping to replicate some of the F10 magic here with the F90 and to stick with BMW for another good few years. There is so much of the learning that can transfer across from the F10 and the comfort this brings so let's see how this goes!

How’s the paint and overall condition of the car?

Or do you foresee a 40hr week coming up for a proper detail? Lol

Congrats Lee. What a beautiful machine. Also congrats to whoever buys your old car as that was flawless as well.

That key is massive.
Does BMW offer a smaller version (or a phone app) that can be used?

Phone app and the Spare is a regular key. I actually have been carrying this around more for the novelty factor while it’s still new to me lol. It has been fine so far comfort wise vs a key ring + regular key in your pocket. I will eventually use the small key for most situations 😂😂😂

It is in pretty good shape. I will definitely still be working some magic on it and ceramic coating it plus VPS for the roof and front

I hadn't planned to go to Durban initially, but the somewhat rapid alignment of the stars and acquisition of the F90 meant we decided to take a drive down to collect kids vs flying... and what a test it was for the F90!

Rain, shine, clean dirty, solo or with family, an M5 is really a car for all seasons and all reasons. It was true of all of them: Certainly my F10 and even more so with the F90. Driving helps organise your thoughts, take your mind off things or focus on others and these cars are equal parts utility, companions and therapists.

As amazing as it was and as much as I loved it, the F10 had one flaw and that was traction. You could mod the car and end up with it slower in the real world and average conditions… I only ever drove F90s in the dry and for short periods of time before. Even in crazy weather and road conditions, the F90 allows you to continue without adjusting your speed or driving style… at all.

There is so much confidence and so much mechanical grip. I didn't see the TC light come on… something that would basically be permanently flashing at me in the F10 under similar circumstances. Switching to family duty, it becomes a docile-but-fun 600 horsepower lounge on wheels which is the real party trick of all M5s. Jekyll and Hyde…

During our trip we had some great weather, freak rain and hail (we missed this by minutes but the aftermath was all around us) and also had the opportunity to try out virtually all the toys the car has to offer. The return trip was uneventful but gave us more of a chance to marvel at just how this car eats up miles and how savage it can be while allowing you to cover crazy distances with close to zero fatigue.

My wife has always been a 'closet' M fan (her family are strictly Mercedes only). When it came to buying a car however, she wouldn't even drive a BMW or Porsche if it was meant for her. I was quite annoyed buying the W205 since she could have easily been in a G20 instead... Despite this, with the F10, she found any excuse to use it and drive it. With the F90, she didn't even use any of the driver aids or adaptive cruise etc during her stints behind the wheel because she was having so much fun doing everything herself. I found this very interesting since I think she is now "out of the closet"! Might be time for a Macan or X3 for her LOL.

Beautiful car.

Saw it next to the beige / bronze M5 in the show room at ABM when was there for parts purchase. Immaculate car. Right colour too.

Definitely; M5 is on my bucket list.
