Hey gents
So bit of background:
My "M" journey started about 8 years back when I purchased my first E36 M3, a 1995 Silver "German Spec". I had always loved the E36 M3 and wanted one but after going for a drive in my cousin's black coupe he had just purchased in that year I knew I had to have one and the search began. As we all know it took a bit of time to find a decent one but I managed to find the needle in a haystack and my first M became a reality! I fell in love with the car and enjoyed every drive I took in it, "M" had got me and it confirmed the love and admiration I had for the brand!
Fast forward a bit and for various reasons at the specific times, I ended up selling my silver E36 as well as my Avus blue E36 M3 I had after that, always regretting doing it afterwards. In between a couple of other cars I had a 4 door E36 M3 as well. I then moved on to my E39 M5, an absolutely epic car but man it was heavy on maintenance and juice! Next I needed something a bit more usable and fuel efficient, went over to the dark side with my fully modded 330d, completely changed my view on diesels! The M yearning came again however, this lead me to my first E46 M3, a car I loved dearly, so perfectly balanced, but sold it in the pursuit of speed(I know not the smartest move I must admit). Bought a CLK63 AMG which was my second AMG, I had owned a C32 AMG a couple of years prior, loved the V8 and the speed but the dynamics just weren't there once again as with the C32. I then had the opportunity to buy my super low mileage, basically brand new E90 335i N54, so I sold the AMG, and purchased my N54. Man was that car an absolute beast with the couple of mods I did, think my best was a 242 km/h on the 1km, I'd try and race anything I came across! That N54 motor has so much potential as we know.
I then sold the 335i, basically realised that as awesome as the 335i was, it wasn't an M, and even though not as quick, an M was what I wanted again. I then purchased my silver E46 M3 SMG, also really enjoyed that car but after owning the car for a while I needed to free up some short term cash flow so made the decision to sell. At basically the same time, a car which I had wanted for I'd say the past 18 months or so became available. I had to have it. Devon(Xeqtr) became the proud new owner of my silver E46 and I juggled a couple of things around to enable me to purchase one of my dream cars once again, an E36 M3 coupe!!
For the past 2-3 years I'd had a longing to own and drive an E36 M3 again, there was just something drawing me to it!! And now that I have one again, I understand why. These are very special cars! I think it's the simplicity of the car itself, it's just such an epic driving experience, free revving straight six upfront, rwd, manual gearbox and lsd, basic formula that works so well when it's done right!! I know the E46 has the same formula and I loved my E46's, but for me the E36, maybe because it was my first M, tugs at my heart strings more!
Don't get me wrong, the E46 M3 is the better car overall, handling is a step up, it's quicker, but there's just something about the E36! Anyways, on to the car itself.
First off a big thank you must go to Anthony for being an absolute legend and so accommodating with me through everything. For looking after her so well, as well as putting up with my never ending "please let me know if you ever decide to sell" messages over the past year or so.
Car details as follows:
BMW E36 M3
Red with cloth interior
September 1993 production date
No sunroof
188000kms
One of the first 50 brought into SA.
I've had her for a little while now, just been attending to a couple of things, I like my cars to be right or as close to right as possible, and even though she was in great condition when I got her there were a couple of things I came across which I wanted to attend to, mostly maintenance type items. Most of it has been sorted and there's only one or two things still to do. She's an awesome example and drives amazingly well!
What I've done in the past little while:
- New disks and pads all round
- New accelerator cable
- New sway bar bushes
- New front and rear shock mounts with shock mount reinforcement plates all round
- New Bilstein B6 front shock absorbers to match the rears.
- Eibach pro-kit springs fitted, minimal change from stock springs in terms of ride height.
- New stabilizer links
- Oil service
Also fitted a set of Falken FK453 tyres all round, awesome tyres, had fitted them on one of my E46's previously and was very pleased, will put the Toyo R888's that were on onto another set of rims for the occasional track outing.
I absolutely love driving the car, every journey and drive is a special occasion for sure! I know I've said this with a couple of my previous cars, but I'm certain and know for sure that this time I'm not going to sell this car! Any other car purchases will be as an addition to this car!:=):
