Feeler: Maintenance Car Washing

Right, brilliant idea.

The detailing guys in Durban charge a bit exorbitant prices on a very basic maintenance wash so package options would be awesome - So have a basic maintenance wash then offer add ons like:

Interior clean and cream
wax
reseal and wax
mag wheel overhaul with iron out and wheel seal/wax.
etc.

Build your own wash sort of thing.

I like the idea of 4 wash package rather than monthly as everyone's schedule is different then give the customer the option to tailor their package so for e.g. 2 basic washes and then 2 washes with a deep wheel clean and wax for instance.

Fuzz you got 6 months to get this shit going, by the time I move up next year I want it ready and operational

Was just thinking about Yulz...

Yulz and Kyle had detailed my ex-E90 and if my memory serves me correct, i paid R300 for a maintenance wash and wax and interior clean 6 months after the detail. This was more than an average "car wash" type of job... Took about 2 hours to complete.

Correct sir.
Something along those lines would be perfect as a regular service offering. Now that I don't have the time to spend on my own car let alone others, i will gladly pay for such a service not having to worry about car wash swirls etc.

This sounds awesome. I would be willing to about R150- 300 for the service and I suppose I would do it once a month. Location won't be a factor for me.

for the amount of effort, products and time anything less than R300 is a rip-off.

Fuzz, I appreciate the idea and concept, but even though many are looking for a cost efficient service, something like this cannot be 'made cheap' and good detailers shouldn't have to squeeze a R500-R650 and a 2 or more hour job into R150 and an hour.

What one needs to keep in mind is that the service being offered is a convenient way of having a clean car using only the best products. Even though the car can be complete within 2 hours, there could be upto 6 man-hours put in.

Assuming just 2 people work on a single car for 2 hours at R200.., minus the cost of the products, what is left to pay the person who did the actual graft.

And that's without mentioning it being after hours as well...

In the scenario quoted in my initial post, there is no way that it would cost R150.

However for a more 'dumbed-down' wash that offers a bit more than a normal carwash with proper washing in mind can reach close to that mark, possibly a bit more and will be marginally quicker than two hours.

Currently we are toying with a few options, ultimately with tailoring something ideal for our market.

Thats good to hear, in my job i dont like having to try to cut corners to meet others expectations, but the end user still expects the same outcome and assume it would be the same for your line of business.
