Feeler: Maintenance Car Washing

Let's chat a bit about washing your car from a maintenance perspective:

So you've had your car detailed, and now what? Washing it by yourself can be a pain as what should take one hour suddenly becomes an all day affair. You'd like to take it to someone else, but a carwash doesn't quite cut the grade.

Before we begin engaging, I'm not simply suggesting hauling out two buckets and a foam cannon. I'm talking about a bespoke service offering two bucket method washing, individual cloth / mitt sets per car, finishing the interior and exterior surfaces with high quality, branded products. Adding to that, refinishing with quick detailer, top up layering for wax / sealant, proper decontamination, polishing and sealing exhaust tips and topping up of wheel waxes and using products tailored for those cars sporting ceramic coatings.

Would you be interested?

How often would you do it?

What would you add or take out of the above?

How much would you be willing to pay?

Would you be willing to book a recurring spot?

I've been wondering when any place would offer this :clapper:

If there's a kettle and some coffee on offer, this would be a recurring "event" for a lot of guys who care about the paint on their cars.

Brilliant offer :clapper:

So let's add free coffee, tea and water to the mix :coolshake:

Bookings primarily for a Saturday with limited spots.

Add a barber and i will see you every Saturday. Can I pay monthly?

A barber might be a bit of a tricky one :biglol:

Washes can be paid for instead of monthly, but rather in packs - as an example:

Buy a pack of four washes - you just need to book ahead of time for a slot to use them

Installation of WiFi is actually happening in the next few weeks, so let's call that a yes

I would be willing to pay R400 max for 4 visits. But this means, i have to drive 40km to your shop on a Saturday. I dont think i will.

Considering the price of an average full house wash is around R80 - R90 and the offering we are putting out there, the prices don't align.

About the drive - we have a partner offering the same, under the CCT Banner, situated closer to those in the east.

Apologies i didnt read the bold bits...

In this case, i would suggest perhaps some options?

I would be interested in a simple, quick in and out procedure like a "car wash" and then book the car in once or twice a year for a proper, complete detail. Just a personal preference.

In most cases, if time was not an issue, i would wash the car myself. Unless i live in a complex but then if time is still an issue and i would rather go to a quiet car wash and be done in 40mins.

For me it would be awesome just go get up and go meet a few Fanatics over a cup of coffee whilst my car gets some decent attention. I wouldn't be able to do it as often as 3 or 4 times a month, and it's also far from my place, but if there's more to it than just a wash then why not?

I agree with Arbee:

I would be interested in a simple, quick in and out procedure like a "car wash".

Just a car wash, done the proper way with 2 bucket method and interior vacuum. Maybe tyre polish if necessary.

How often? Can't say, car is not a daily
Recurring: maybe guys with daily rides who want this can chime in
Price: just over the price of a full house. Fuzz mentioned R80 or 90 for a full house. Here I think we can add a 30 to 40 % premium?

Fuzz I would be interested.

Every Saturday, Max R150 a wash. Not too phased about the coffee or the wifi.

so possibly 4 times a month and 2 times at the least.

Car washes used to be an early Saturday morning get together with mates, get the cars washed, good coffee and hang out. The actual washers themselves messed that one up by the usual rag drop and simple lack of care, I'd be keen, things like proper engine washes, light polishing, very simple things you guys can do to add a little more flair than your regular car wash.

They all use the same methodology, push out numbers, no matter what corner's cut, they always miss spots... get this right and you'll be a swamped with work.

For me I like washing my car occasionally when I want to bond with my car. At the same time, I am no expert in detailing, so would want the experts to pamper my car from time to time.

I feel what you are offering is great, but would be excessive every month in terms of cost, time and necessity.

I would look at:
- 1x or 2x car washes per month (2 bucket + foam + wheels)
- 1x full car wash/basic detail (as you listed above) every 8 weeks.
- I would then look at a full detail once every year based on your advice

I would pay R100 for the basic car wash, and am open to your offers for the other services.
