Hi guys, Big problems to come. First time poster.

Bought a 2012 f20 118i in Botswana, I am a student living in PTA. bought car in december had 70k mileage. 2 weeks after, got the drivetrain malfunction,as well as engine temp high drive moderately. turned out to be coolant leak was fixed.

Early Jan, driving back to PTA and i get a Drivetrain error again, took the car to club motors fountains turned out to be a loose vacuum hose. they fixed only charged for diagnostic.

fast forward to last night, 27/01 , driving the car in sport but not crazy. i get the engine temp high drive moderately i was about 2km from home at the time, stopped off for 10 minutes used the f20 secret menu to look the coolant and oil temps, coolant was 118, oil was 103. waited for the coolant to get to 105, set off again, another kilometre or so and Idrive throws, Battery not charging have problem checked by BMW.

At this point i was a few hundred metres from home, stopped the car for about 25 mins, during this time the coolant went up to 115 and oil to 105,

Started car, tried to get home it was late not very safe(foreign plates). Now the Idrive says Engine Overheated Stop immediately In red. was about 50m from gate just rolled it home as slow as possible once again temps did not go passed 118 and 105.

Car was idling but tinkly noises coming from engine switched off and did not start again. opened the hood last night could not see much.

Had a look again this morning, Belt is broken. Oil splatter underneath the engine and around fan under turbo, it looks like quite a bit.
Dipstick has lost about quarter of oil.

Assuming the belt snapped and thus alternator was not charging and water pump not working either.
Does that make sense?

another thing, no motor plan. the dealer i bought the car from says he will take care of it as they have their 3 month warranty on used vehicles.

Just wondering what the oil splatter is? and could the engine have suffered internal damage given the temps it was at?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oil could be because cause of a dead turbo, my colleagues f20's turbo recently sh@t itself after an engine replacement at about 76 000 km's
