E92 M3 'refresher' thread

Ha née kyk!

Update: the car kept asking for oil after I filled it with the recommended 9l. So I added another 1l and it asked for more still. I understand that the oil cooler needed it's fill as well, but there's no info out there on how much to add in a 'virgin' setup. I then added another 1l and now it's happy.

So, I can confirm that it takes 11l of oil if you fill from scratch and 9l of oil for a service. I state it here as it seems to be some f'ing secret or something.

Also, really not liking the LM 75W80 GL3+ oil in the transmission. So that's coming out and I'm going for something else. I have a feeling it's too thick, even though it's what LM states on their site as the correct alternative.

I've also had the AC regassed this morning, so now I don't pass out from heat in the car anymore.

Otherwise, she's still going good and I've been using it as a runabout the whole day without any weird noises or leaks. So I'm carefully optimistic so far :rollsmile:

Hehehehe,

Well, not sure if I stated this in the thread, but this definitely wasn't all me hey. Over the last few months I've had many, many people to come and assist and give their advice. Some of them from this forum, like a1exander and Nikhil, and many off the forum. And not to mention the many more that gave emotional support as well :)

So yeah, there's been a lot of effort and input from others, without whom I'd never gotten to this point. Those were the real experts ;) I'm constantly stunned at the willingness of others to assist...

Had to visit this thread, not only to once again be amazed by the passion Gert has for BMW, in particular this beautiful M3, but also cause I forgot what that cleaner was called, which is Mycro Kleen BTW.. time for me to stock up on things so to sort my M Coupe out..

Thanks gents, this project has been fulfilling and I've been enjoying the car a lot. I still want to get a full respray done on the car, so hoping that'll happen in the next month or two. Unfortunately, the cash I had put away for that was sucked up by the wife's Q5 popping its engine, I got the car back last week and R62k later...

Anyway, I am actually itching for another project to be honest. Let's see what pops up and takes my fancy. Maybe a scrapper M3 to turn into an SC track beast...

So this is a bittersweet moment. I finally got the courage to get the car resprayed. There's nothing worse than seeing your baby look like this, but I know it's gonna come out looking orders better on the other side.

More pics to follow as I get them.

Wow! That is dam scary. What is the cost of this sort of resprayed if you don't mind me asking? Assuming its sprayed the same colour as the original.
