I was fortunate enough to feel what 730nm feels like last night :praise:

Just a bit of background, so I have a 320d LCI and my SO has a 330d LCI. The difference between die 2.0d and the 3.0d is quite a jump, lets call that "50 Unicorns" under the hood.

The difference between a 3.0d and a tuned 3.0d is NOT marginal. I would go as far as saying its equal to at least another 50 Unicorns" :fencelook:

Seriously the torque is intoxicating, and endless. And it all happens so effortlessly and linear. No rattling, no noise, just pure torque!

Thanks for the ride Ferdi!

/ goes off to look for a 330d to buy...

Has ur software upgrade affected ur fuel consumption in normal everyday driving conditions?

I don’t drive the car daily, but for what I have seen the car is no thirstier than before.

I am currently sitting on around 8.5l/100km with 95% town driving and playing around to test the new map.

Driving back from a Keithan after the map I got around 5.8l/100km or so IIRC

Time for an update..

Before the new year gets too hectic with work etc. I decided to give my car a proper service so she’s good to go for almost another year.

I went to Imcomex and got the following:
Cabin Filter
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Oil Filter
Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 oil (2x5l)
Meyle Rear pads and wear sensors - I have heard good things about these pads and the amount of brake dust they produce (my biggest issue with Textar)

The total came to around R2600 which proves that DIY could save you a lot of money and gives piece of mind that all parts that were purchased were actually replaced.

The whole process is straight forward apart from the fuel filter replacement due to lack of space as I don’t have access to a lift.

The car was apparently serviced and all filters replaced by the dealer before I purchased the car (50km before to be exact). Being naive as I am I have been driving the car since then without servicing.

Here are comparison pics of the new parts and old parts (having supposedly done 9000km since they were replaced prior to me purchasing the car):

Kudos for DIYing. Those definitely do not look like filters that have done 9000km :thumbdo:

Thanks man. Proving/disproving that they have/haven’t done that mileage will be almost impossible, but by DIY’ing your services you know it is indeed replaced.

That air filter has done 9000km X 5

The amount of dirt in there was just scary to see. Feels good to have a clean one fitted.

Word of advise, do the oil service every 7000km, every 15000km change the air and fuel filter

I plan on doing oil and filter every 7500km after having it mapped and then filters etc. @ 15000km intervals

Also going to do it that way from now on after seeing how these things looks at regular service intervals

Ya no. I've seen air filters with 30 000km looking cleaner than that!

And I don't take you for someone that drives lots of gravel roads!

Update time...

My car went to Powerflow Randburg on Friday to get a downpipe made and fitted. Whilst the car was there I decided to have them remove the centre box as well to make it sound a bit better.

I opted for a 76mm stainless steel downpipe.

The process took a whole day to complete and I am happy with the outcome. The car screams nicely at WOT and sounds more like a petrol car now. Inside it’s quiet and no drones are present. There is also a distinct whistle type sound at idle and you hear everything the turbo is doing. Throttle response has definitely also improved (not that it was needed).

I will dyno some or other time to see how much (if any) difference the downpipe made to the power of my car.

Pictures of the DP and fitment:
