There are a few cabs in SA, but they are very rare so be prepared to pay. We also didn't get the 325ix (4 wheel drive). From what I've heard there are only like 4 or 5 325ix's in SA. Same with E30 M3.

The E30 needs some TLC on the interior, but otherwise it's nice. I saw a red cab in SA last year for about R20k.

Nice cars, but here's a question. Is it a cabriolet or a convertable, and what is the difference?

Its a convertible buddy - full drop top, no rollover bar.

In S.A we got the cabriolet's - (1)where the back part of the roof folds down, (2)you have a rigid removable section which unclips above the driver. There is a fixed "rollover bar" in the middle of the car.

Great, just wanted to make sure, cause some people still refer to the full drop as a cabriolet, which is of course incorrect.

PM DROP IT - ZN for help on this. He's done a bit of searching on this subject. Also from Durban.

The E30 convertible is just plain gorgeous. Imho one of the best drop tops built. Must admit, the one pictured above looks crappy, but those lines are still timeless. I saw a black one today that needed just a little tidying to make it really nice. SA never had the full vert, ours was the Baur conversion, which was built in large numbers here, and in very small numbers around the rest of the world. The rest of the world had the full vert, which I believe is much better looking. Nonetheless, the less pretty Baur version is now more sought after overseas. Strange world we live in.

Welcome

You should rather start a new topic in the 3 series section here: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/forumdisplay.php?fid=48

You'll get more views and replies. The guys from www.e30clubsa.co.za could also help.
