Hey guys, the car is still at RBTS Racing...

We had a problem with the idle, the car would just shut off sometimes while driving. Had an incident where the car shut off whilst taking a corner, and suddenly no power steering. EEEEK.

So, we found out the ECU was having a hard time setting the fuel mixture for the idle and then changing it for when driving. The 440cc injectors are over fueling and killing the engine. Also, fuel consumption when sitting at a Robot just flies through the roof.

Ross discovered that the old 99' e46 ECU's lowest setting for the fuel injectors is 0.9 milliseconds. So he needed to install a 3rd party piece of hardware which allows the injectors to fire at 0.6 milliseconds

He has been rewriting the tune for the car from the ground up, as there are no maps for the e46 323i for supercharged conversions....

So... that being said, he expects us to do more than the 200kw @ the fly / 156kw @ the wheels when the car is re tuned.

He says it will only be ready by Monday.

Oh well... waiting game...

if you went with the V2 setup would it have been easier? seeing as that is the kit VF sell on their site... surely they have a tune for that?

The GIAC software that comes with the kit will have a tune for both the V2 or V3, but because of our higher altitude in JHB, we decided to go with a local tuner to be safe.

Also rumors of GIAC software not being the best and so forth... I left it up to Burgy to come up with the best formula.

i see... cant RBTS use the tune to find how to correct the idle? anyways hope you get your car back soon :)

The reason we went for the V3 is mainly because it has a higher hp rating and that its easier to maintain (the charger being self oiled etc)

For the current application, the v2 and v3 would have similar tuning, later on we plan to do engine internals and a smaller charger wheel (up the boost), thats when the V3 will seriously outshine the v2.

Whenever I plan a build, I always look at the end game

As Chris said, the GIAC file is not tuned for local conditions, It wouldnt run nicely here. I always prefer to tune locally because tuning is a big part of the process and support is only a call away.

With all our future builds we will advise certain things ie, bigger charger or local tune, but ultimately its up to the customer. If he wants a pick charger and yellow exhaust, thats what he gets  My philosophy is to give the customer the best advice and then we make the decision together.

I think Crash trusts me a little too much

It was all planned out well, The only problem was the delay in tuning.

But, since this is our first system, there are bound to be teething problems!!

The next build will probably be to my car!

damn that V7 is insane :)

what you going to fit to your car? i take it that it will be a V3 because you will easily get 600hp with it...

All the problems have been sorted, the car has been re-tuned.

Ross wants to keep the car over night so he can do a cold start and see that everything is ok.

The car will be ready tomorrow morning
