Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well!

I wanted to get your thoughts on cloth seats in BMWs. I’ve noticed that many models from 2018 onward come with cloth upholstery, but I’m not too familiar with how they hold up over time. How durable are they in the long run? Personally, I prefer leather—our 2007 E90 still has leather seats that look amazing for their age. Would love to hear your experiences or opinions!

I have never seen a non-90s BMW with cloth seats, at least not at a dealer or on the configurators. What models are they on? There are some special ones with Alcantara but I doubt you're talking about those.

If it is Alcantara, it is a very durable fabric and can be easily cleaned with the right technique, products & tools.

You might want to change your reading material. Even a base spec 318i has leather interior

Under Aesthetics and Comfort. It is green ticked cloth. Which made me confused.

In South Africa? Maybe in Europe where you can get these things in much more basic form (even with steelies)

I’m sure @Woodies specced his old M140i with cloth seats. I do think it’s an option in SA. Go check his thread.

My 530d had cloth and nappa leather, about 10 made it to SA in that configuration and it was effing lovely. Still looked decent aswell once cleaned.

Do you want cloth seats ? Why are you not looking for a car with leather ?

The car you posted is 6 years old, go see it and decide for yourself but it will all boil down to how the cars were taken care of be it cloth or leather.

Looking for leather but car is not available yet. Available in a week. Was just curious on it.

I think cloth vs leather really comes down to personal preference. Both have pros and cons. Cloth breathes better but leather is easier to clean. Maybe test drive both and see what you prefer?
