This is my most prised car of the bunch.
Got a stainless free-flow from where exhaust manifold reach the bottom of the car to the back, sounds awsome!!! (Nice burble on the over-run).
Then I have installed new susp. bushes all round and new tyres (Goodyear Excellence - affordable compromise) The car drives like when it was new. It is surprising how accustomed you can get to a deteriorating ride over time.

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. Yes, I am trying to keep it in good shape, but it needs a good polish, scratches show so easily on this colour!

@Danzellc, your 19" wheels look awsome! Did you need to roll the arches?

@1lum1nat1, yes its got 91 500km on the clock now, pics was taken Jun/Jul. I try and use it as little as possible, but had to replace two batteries already. So now I am using it every Friday to work and back, its about 30km for the day. Other than that its only used for long trips, the sand blasting on the windschield and nose is evidence of that.

Ja cfroc, had to roll them but only at the rear coz rear rims are 9.5j. In front its ok as the e34 has agressive front arches.

Very very beautiful 540i/6 E34 . Is it code 299 Techno-Violett metallic? Light Silvergrey leather. Nice with the two tone door panels. BB82056 is the VIN right?

Hi Stephan,

yes, the number is the VIN number. The colour is Madeira Black, its what is printed on the driverside front suspension turret.

If your records show that 72 cars have been built for the SA market, why do you think BMW's own plaque/trophy and letter states that this is number 72 of 75 in SA?

Anyways, I love driving this car nowadays. With the free-flow exhaust, new susp. bushes and tyres, it is very difficult not to drive it hard, but I work only 11km from home, so 22km one or two times a week shouldn't be too hard on it.

Must say that R100 worth of fuel (approx. 13L of fuel) only last me about 3 days, that's approx. 18 - 20 l/100km!

Could you possibly send me the road test on the SA 540i/6sp, you mentioned in one of your other posts? What other detail have you got on the SA versions. I only know what I could find on the net and on Wikipedia, and on another 540i/6sp forum of which I think you are the administrator if I am correct.

I send you a message before I saw this answer, sorry.

Madeira Black, color code 302? There were 8 made HE51 in that color of the 707 built, a Individual color.

I don't know, it's strange, I found pictures of BB82028 in Januari 2006, it was the first knowledge about the SA HE98, than I run the VIN series at www.realoem.com and BB82000-BB82071 turned up. There is my sourch, if there are 3 more they have a different VIN serie. Which is even more strange. My guess is that BMW SA was planing to built 75 cars, but didn't. Does the other cars have a plaque?

I love to drive the 540i/6 I enjoy them more than E34 M5 and E39 M5, they come closes. Looking forwards spring and change to #410/797 a Arktissilber with M Sport Package. My day to day summer car.

I will scan the road test, hopefully tomorrow.

The info I got is, that I mentioned + the road test, compared pictures with Euro build and some ads of SA-cars for sale. I have seen pics of the Avus blue with ESS Supercharger. I would really like to have Equipment lists just like this, it's the last Alpina B10 4,6 6speed built on a HE51 540i/6;

It went to Japan, the only 540i/6 sold there (LHD), there should be lists like that for SA 540i/6. A BMW dealer should be be able to print one. That's the way to get them for Euro made BMW. My friend that runs the M5 registry have the same problem with the SA E34 M5.

Belongs to one of my customers, and he stores it in his warehouse under a cover, and drives it home and back once a month or something stupid...
