BMW X1 SDrive 18i - fuel Consumption

Hi, I've just recently bought myself a 2011 BMW X1 SDrive 18i for a really good price and have not owned any BMW before this one so I didn't really know what to expect. After having the car for about a month now I can say it really feels a bit sluggish especially when reaching an incline on the road and the fuel consumption is higher than my old Toyota Camry at 10km per ltr.

Is this normal for this type of X1 or should I take it in to be checked?

This type of X1 (18i) will be slow yes.

It should however be more economical then 10l/100km.

I would agree that your consumption should be between 8 and 9 per 100.

So I got the same consumption on my 2012 X1 sdrive 18i, The best I can get is 11.5km/L and in the city 10.3km/L sometime 8.7km/L This is petrol engine. It's scary right?

Sorry bud that probably has the N46 like the E90 320i. Arguably one of BMW's worst motor in terms of power and economy.
