So after a long time thinking what car to get as we are expanding the family soon, the initial thought was get rid of the Mini Cooper S and get a sedan or SUV. There were two things that were certain on our (meaning my :rollsmile
minds, it had to be a BMW and a diesel.
So the search started. First, we looked at a few 320d's and 330d's, and we found a 40 year 320d in mineral white. But we took too long to make a decision and the car went to someone else. And so the search continued...
We found an E70 X5 30d in silver and arranged for a test drive. They did say that there was a lot of interest in the car and that I should be quick, but I took that as salesman talk. Anyway I arrived on a Saturday, had a look at the X5 with the salesman and it looked mint. As we were going through the car, another interested party comes along and the guy had already test driven the car, and brought his family to have a look. So I'm ready to take it out for a test drive and salesman tells the family that he's just going out with me. The wife of interested guy nudges him a couple of times and next thing I know they confirm that they are taking the car. So no test drive and the search continues...
By this time Splintether has his X5 for sale on the thread. I'm interested but his in CPT and I'm in Jhb. So I arrange to see and test drive the car while in Cape Town for Two Oceans. During this time, I got an opportunity for an F15 X5 30d M-Sport in mineral white in Paarl. I decided to go for it instead. I test drive the car and I'm happy. But there are comments on the car which has me a bit wary and it will stretch the budget a bit. I decide not to pull the trigger. Splints X5 is sold by then. And so it continues...
Finally, a 2013 F30 330d in Estoril Blue with 49000km catches my eye. I'm interested! It ticks the two main boxes, BMW and diesel. Bonus - M-sport, professional nav, sports transmission, 19" 403M wheels, sunroof, xenons and other features I haven't been acquainted with yet. No questions here and delivery was taken last week. Now for some pics.
New girl (330d), old girl (330i) and our little boy sniffing out the new family member.
Sorry for the bad quality pics.
