#becauseracecar (non-bmw content)

Good Evening all,

Hope you enjoyed Ramaphosa's speech tonight..... Lol.

I know this is a Bmw forum, but at the same time I feel this is an excellent petrolhead community and thus the reason for sharing.

For a long time I was debating on whether I should sell my 325ti, motor swop it or just keep it as is and sooth the itch later on. Fast forward to middle Feb and one of my good mates phone me up and says he's selling his car. Immediately I knew this my opportunity as I knew the car really well and it's the ideal toy for me.

I introduce you all to my 2007 Vw Polo 1.9tdi sportline.

I'm stoked on this purchase. It has the ideal mods list and I plan on going all out with this beast. So for now the 325ti stays and will remain the daily while I have this monster for the weekends.

Today I took it upon myself to remove the turbo as well as the clutch. It was quite the mission and I have forgotten what a hassle it is to work on a car with a transverse design.

Onto some pics:

The clutch is completely shot. My plan is to get a hybrid clutch so I'm considering my options. With regards to the turbo.... I'm sending it off to Gabby at Fastec so he can work his magic and build me something special.

While I'm at it, I'm going to do the following:
*oil change
*coolant flush
*new gearbox oil
*cambelt, waterpump, tensioner
*engine and gearbox mounts

Thanks for reading and I'll update you guys once I receive the new goodies.

Nice little cars these, the 1.9Tdi is a strong motor in such a small car.. Good work on the items so far! Rare color too! This really is a gem, does it have leather interior? :)

These are really fun, the amount of torque you get with them is incredible. Congrats, keep it updated

Thanks for the kind words Sir.

It does in fact have the leather interior option as well as the cruise control.

Build a GTB2260 with a 6 blade 65mm billet wheel and call it a day.

Congrats on the new car.
Thanks bud.

Yea I'm getting the GTB22 built as we speaking. Dropped the turbo off at Fastec Turbochargers this morning and it should be done later this week.

Future plans include injectors, studs and cam. Without injectors I won't be able to open the bottle in the boot....

I know of a few TDIs that are running similar setups and really break hearts. All the best with the future mods man, I am keen to see the progress

Recently bought a very clean 1.9TDi 96kw 3 door as well and I'm very keen on the turbo upgrade.
Was thinking going with the GTB1756 unit but some say the GTB2056 is better?
I want to daily the car so not looking for boost to come in at 3k rpm.

Nice man!

These tdi's are wonderful vehicles for using as a daily, but if you use it as a daily I would recommend keeping the stock turbo and maybe just adding a front mount intercooler combined with a map.

Just a small update.

I took the turbo in yesterday and Gabby is working his magic.

The clutch went into Formula Friction this morning and their building a hybrid button clutch.

Hopefully I can get the car back on the road by this weekend.

Definitely want to do stainless boost pipes as the std design is stupid and a cooler upgrade. Mine does have a leak so its a must do.

The guys that I know that are running 2260 or 2265 turbos have nitrous in the car,so they are mostly not daily drivers. The bottle obviously helps a lot with the spool ,but as a daily I reckon the 2260/2265 would be too big, because the 2260 is actually stock on the e90 330d which is obviously has a much bigger motor.

I know of an extremely fast Polo with a 2056 turbo that is a daily driven car and I reckon as a daily that is the perfect match. The lag isn't much at all and fuel consumption remains astonishing.

GTB17 remains the ultimate daily turbo. Good for 2-bar region and spools close to stock frame turbo specs.
