A huge thanks to Tazo for coming to me and getting the steering fitted!

And with that, the AZA Steering, Autoteknic DCT Peddles and red M & Start/Stop buttons are installed.

I have not driven the car much, but man it feels so much more comfy in my hands now. Pics for your enjoyment (i guess)

With the E93 M3 being the first Convertible, V8, high cc and most importantly, M car I have a lot to be thankful for and now after just over a year and almost 10k km i figured i might as well review the car and my ownership thus far. Since i actually own this, i will try to be less bias towards the car and not compare it to my previous X3 35i or the E90 330d for that matter.

As i said its been over a year, about 18 months since buying the car in January 2019. I made the decision to keep the SUV and buy an older M car over trading the SUV in for a F80 M3 and getting a small run about for myself.

So first things first, when i bought the car i knew i needed to invest in it and protect the engine by getting the bearings done. I had babied the car the first 8 months prior to doing the bearings. Of course i have mechanical sympathy in general and didn't ring its neck every time i drove it and always followed warming and cooling process, etc. So my driving review will follow on from January this year...

Here goes...

@"444YYY" told me when i bought this car that the sound will be better than the same exact car in RHD as the drivers seating position is directly behind the intake. He is not wrong at all, driving the car and just keeping the RPM in its sweet spot is just as enjoyable as a 8,200 open up. The sound is a culmination of exhaust and intake, every car guys dream. Especially with the roof open, the sense of rushing air in and out collaborating and performing like a musical symphony is just breathtaking. I have not had the urge to change the intake to an aftermarket one, even the filter is an OEM filter. However, the exhaust is mostly stock, except for the Dinan axle back. The Dinan exhaust is pretty stealthy, so stealthy that the tips sit within the diffuser which is something Dinan, a local exhaust shop and I are working on to resolve. The exhaust itself though sounds great, its not obnoxiously loud and has a decent volume at cruising speeds. A happy medium i would say!

Its also my car with a DCT gearbox, i love the ability to switch between easy and aggressive shifting. Easy shifting allows for the seamless shift, not creating to much of attention and a overall pleasing drive for the daily trips. Then switch it up a notch or 5 and the shift throw punches at you and yell on each downshift. Love it... @"Sherwin@xcede" let me drive his E92 M3 many years ago and since then i always wanted DCT, especially for the downshift.

V8, 4 litre, no turbo, no gas... Who can complain about this!!! I mean, honestly, in the present times, its not the fastest but nothing (IMO) compares to that overall drive ability and feeling of togetherness between Engine, Gearbox, Drive train and driver!! Yes, FI will yield better in many factors, but when you drive this car, it just makes the entire package rewarding on all factors. No regrets!

Suspension is really comfortable, no issues on this apart from the front is too dam high!! . Except, im awaiting my BC Racing coil over kit and i hope the comfort standard stays the same.

The entire car leaves me breathless, its the feeling that makes you look back when you walk away. When i was searching for an E9x M3 i wanted something that was special. And about when i was giving up and settling with a black on black, this red number popped in. On research, a friend at BMW found that there was only a handful of the E9x M3's made in the color combo Melbourne Red with Bamboo Beige and even fewer in E93 so i think it is a limited or individual edition.

On the interior, i recently upgraded the steering wheel and added some touches to it. Soon, im going to focus on the silver trim, it looks good as it is, but i have an idea that i think if executed will really spruce up the interior.

Exterior wise, i have done the usual - Wheels, lip, spoilers, side skirts etc which really tie in with the look. I plan to go from Carbon Fibre to gloss black soon. Im happy with the look of the car in general. Just need to get the front bumper numberplate holes filled and perhaps get a new coat of paint on the bumper. Otherwise, for a 10 year old car, shes in excellent condition. Few nicks and scratches here and there but nothing to hectic to warrant body paint work. Maybe a correction and coating again soon.

Top Down driving - Its such a blissful experience as i mentioned the sound of exhaust and intake, the open air. Granted, living in the UAE has its safety perks so lack of concern about being hijacked or robbed just helps. I guess its an attention seeker, with its colors and flamboyance!

On the overall, im really happy with the decision to go with a legendary V8 over the modern F80. Maybe later, i can upgrade the Ford to a Super Saloon when my son is bigger and out of the car seat but i plan to keep the E93 M3 for many days to come and perhaps ship it home sooner or later if the need arises.

I have hit a mental block, might add more in here later. Cheers!

So tell me buddy;

When are you actually going to FINALLY wrap that silver trim OUTSIDE the car? Please tell me it's going to be at the same time as you do the interior!

You colour blocking right now which is detracting from the beautiful individuality of the exterior/interior combo with this stupid silver breaking it. :roflol: I'm getting emotional about this even dammit! @"Arbee"

@"UpNcOmiNg!"  I am happy to report back that i have secured a booking to have the silver exterior trimmings painted in gloss black using peelable paint. It is a more durable option over wrapping hence i have opted to go ahead with it. M3 will be dropped off on Saturday for a few days at Enzo for the job. I will share pics as usual... Thank you for the push and concern.

In other news, i was expecting the coilovers this week, but as usual this is delayed. Im hoping to receive a tracking number within a day or 2. However, Octane is on standby with some suspension refresh items for when the coilovers arrive.

Thank you, once again for your kind words...

I have dropped the M3 off at Enzo for the gloss black peelable paint over the silver exterior trims. When i got there and got the prices, i saw they were running some really cool deals this Ramadan (in the UAE, Ramadan is the time to spend, cos everything is on sale) so i opted to have the M3 corrected and coated as well at the same time. Interior will also be cleaned and coated. Should get the car back by Thursday.

Even better news, the suspension has arrived in Abu Dhabi, UPS should deliver today. BC Racing has also advised that the kit contains the shorter end links and adjustable camber plates. The only item that it did not contain is the rear upper strut mounts, so i have ordered a pair of these, wait time is 10-15 days as not stock locally. So, the car will go to Octane once that arrives for some low.

Update:

M3 is with Enzo, they have started off the process to paint the exterior trim gloss black. To preserve the trim, i have asked them not to remove to reduce the risk of them getting bent, etc. Nothing interesting, just some pics of the start of the masking process. The entire car will be covered to prevent overspray.

And, the coilovers have arrived from BC Racing!

Peelable paint process will be finished by the weekend, have included a detail and coating on the entire car while its at Enzo.
Eid holidays for the entire week next week, so the car will go over to Octane in the first week of June for coilovers to be installed.

Shup!
