Friend of mine also had a problem with the abs module or whatever, the one that fits on the back of the abs block. This is years ago (about 4 or 5). Took the car to Combined Electronics in Plattekloof and they fitted a second hand one after Mike (i think that is his name) tried to repair the one on the car. Cost was R4k at the time. Cannot remember what warning lights were on at the time, though.

Thanks

The price for an attempted repair is still around the R4K region
Unfortunatelly even this amount is beyond my financial means at the moment

so am busy with a "Brakpan mod", wrapping a rag around the unit, soaking the rag in Ice Cold Water, can hear a very defenitive electronic click, as the temp drops below the "failure" threshold.
this method makes the duration of servicability last a lot longer
Next "mod" is I am buying an electronics fan/blower for less than R100, and am going to mount it such that it blows air onto the unit continuously and also blows away the heat soak from the engine

lotto winnings needed NOW !

Have you thought about some extra heat shielding and better airflow, maybe a fan, to keep the heat away from the unit ?

thanks

I have google and searched the European BMW forums, some have success, some dont.

I bought myself a R75 fan yesterday in preparation for attempting a modification over the weekend

ABS control unit is broken very unlikely a speed sensor.

Take the unit off and go to Combined Electronics they may be able to help you or phone IPC

Number 2

@Peter@AEW :ty:
@Gert @ OBworx :ty:
@ Raheed from Combined Electronics :ty:

took the plunge yesterday, and dropped of the faulty ABS unit with Raheed from Combined Electronics
Same day still I got a call to collect
Fitted, and was told to drive around for a while until I am happy
One day later, and many stops, starts, heat build up etc etc, all OK, so returned today to Combined Electronics to give my bank balance a "mega-crack",
R3300 is beter than R8500 for a recon unit or R13500 for a new unit.

but the old "fiver-tractor" is going fine again

Gert and Raheed mentioned that they have some success in the past, but couldn't 100% percent garuantee, but "notch my ABS unit" as another of your success stories.

thanks all
