Imagine spending over a bar on a 318 with 115kw :( . We are doomed.
We were already at this madness when the G series was launched, an enthusiasts spec 320i was just over the bar mark at that time. This was also exacerbated by the end of manufacturing of the 3 series in SA.

I cant wait for the 318i mzanzi edition for R1.2m...

Haha I doubt we getting a 318i its not on the cards for SA so expect a 320i in Mzanzi trim, comes with "eish" sound when airbags deploy free of charge but renewable with subscription after 3 years
So, the M350 engine will be available in the X3 M50 Black Package :)
This places the X3 M50 in the Macan GTS league.

Okay the X3 M50 not as good in looks department as the Porsche, but it comes in a lot cheaper and still runs neck and neck with the Porsche in non black package (the current X3 M50), the new power output takes the X3 M50 to 326kw (My gosh!). With extra power bump it should walk the Porsche with ease

I'll be very honest. The Macan is a nice car, but i feel it is kind of overrated (No offense to anyone who owns one).

I feel the X3, especially the M50 would be better value for money over the Macan. As much as the macan will hold its value better, you still have to consider you have to put in an extra R600k for the GTS over the M50.

But then you'd have to put up with the looks of the X3. I'd much rather have the slower but prettier Macan.

This is one that I'll fight you on LOL. the M50 values will also drop like a stone. My friend just bought a very nice M50 for R1.55M. You can't find one part of the car that looks like it SHOULD be in a 1.55M car.

There is a very nice Macan Turbo at Porsche which was the same price and you can bolt on motorplans for the same amount of time. You can argue that one is newer, but not that it is better. Even a 2023 Macan S is head and shoulders above the fit/finish of an X3 and performance can't be compared on paper. In the real world it has the Turbo drivetrain.

Very nearly bought a 2020 Turbo.

That being said, F97 on the other hand (if you can find a nice one) is the best value right now and probably won't be for long. Availability is already an issue.

The x3 M50 is not as bad on resale as other cars yes they take a slight knock but not as bad as any EV out there, I agree on the quality BMW has dropped the ball slightly you can see it on the trims, and certain door materials yes it does not scream 1.5m worth.

A Porsche near end of plan is an option but plan extensions are not infinite and then you need a good mechanic. Same price you get a 5 year worry free X3 M50 in plan. Funny the topic come up as I have just had a friend who was in the same struggle between Macan GTS (2021) vs X3 M50 2026 ultimately for him it came down to X3 M50 being much bigger in size for his family 2 kids, himself and the wife, and a small dog, second he expressed that plan extension was sitting around R45 000 by which time he lost interest on spending 1,5 bar plus plan extensions. He oftens says if he was a singleton we would of jumped at it but it just shows as compelling as it is to go with a pre owned GTS the BMW won him on peace of mind and more room. Now he pestors me every week on how much better the B58 sounds over my S58 ill let him have this one

In the end you can't beat a Porsche on quality and looks. BMW dropped the ball on the X3 M50 I feel, as mentioned in my previous thread I rather get x3m competition it feels more special and the interior quality is far superior than the current X3 but that alone and resale is not going to stop the anyone from considering a X3 M50i they have grown popular and I have seen quite a few on the roads, and at least 20 available on BMW online
