technical Tyre recommendations? (Currently looking at POTENZA S001 or TURANZA T001)

Hey everyone,
I have my 320d, but after 1 year and 4 months my rear tyres are already below minimums (whoops). Any recommendations? I am in Cape Town, and got a quote for 2x POTENZA S001 or TURANZA T001 for R2750 each.

Not sure if there are better prices, or better tyres for the money. I currently have the Turanza T001 fitted to my car. Will keep them on the front and swap out the back 2x.

Ideally want something good and performant (run flats too). But also dont want tyres that will wear down super quickly.

It would be best to go with the same tyres as the front as possible, so go for the Turanza, pricing does not seem bad.

Howzit bro

I changed from Bridgestone RF RE050 to Goodyear Eagle F1's. Never looked back. Rears gave me over 45 000km. And it performs good in both wet and dry conditions.
Very true, I had GoodYear Assym F1a on my M135i, drove 40000km and didn't have to change them at all, as you said great handling in wet and dry...

Hi

What mileage did you get over that time?
Also, was the wear fairly even or pronounced on part of the tyre?
I had an F30 LCI 320d M sport with Potenzas from new until I sold the car at 30,000km (if I recall). Tyre tread was still fine.

Seeing that you're from Cape Town get a quote from BMW as well. My last two tyre replacements I did through SMG Tygervalley and their prices were lowest from the quotes I got (and they had stock). Maybe try SMG Cape Town?

If you can, stick to the same tyre all around as mentioned, don’t mix brands or models. So if you're keeping the Turanza T001s up front, rather just get the same ones for the rear.

The S001 is more performance-focused, but the T001 offers a better balance of comfort and durability. It’s quieter, rides smoother, and tends to last longer. That said, if you’re thinking about moving to something sportier, skip the S001 and go straight to the Potenza Sport. It’s a newer and more advanced tyre, still within the Bridgestone family, and a solid upgrade in terms of grip and responsiveness.
