Stolen valor?

My badges on the e92 (roundels and wheelcaps) are starting to show some age. Nothing terrible but definitely seen better days. So I was scanning Takealot for some options as they actually have decent OEM'ish options and really this is purely for looks so of the reviews are decent I'm not bothered if it's from Kazakhstan.

But then I saw they have 50th anniversary options for really not a lot (basically R900 for both roundels and a set of caps). I really like the 50 year badges, but a part of me is now wondering whether it's a bit shite to put it on a car that didn't come with them at release?

Basically, is this the equivalent of slapping ///M badges on everything that isn't an M or even MSport?

After all the suzuki and WBC posts I figured I'd bring us back to something a bit more lighthearted

I too do not like the look of the 50year. I prefer the cleaner look of the normal badges.

But that’s not what you asked and you like the look of the 50years. :)

I am against putting badges on the car that are not original for that edition or spec. OEM look for me all the way. OEM+ in some cases as long as it’s not claiming to be what it’s not. (Like back in the day when Audi drivers removed the V6T side badges for Supercharged badges)

Just FYI on the Wheel badges is that some of the cheaper ones are slightly miss sized. I went down that rabbit hole, the first set was slightly too small do I used heat to stretch the plastics to „clip“. Eventually though they fell out. The next set was slightly too big, but you could mallet them in to stick, but when doing so there was a risk of bending the edge. (Hard to explain)

Glad my gut on this is being confirmed. I just felt it would look cheesy on the car knowing it's not meant for the car. But I really do like those badges (they look happy if that makes sense) but on the cars they actually belong 🫡

I'll save up for dealer OEM badges if reports are that the Chinesium ones don't last
They're just f'ing expensive for what they are and as I said, they're not completely crap yet.

I think Firi only has the blacked out roundels which are cool, but I don't think they'll work on my car as I am keeping all my chrome trim.

I am with you on this one, I also like the heritage badges but don't feel it fits with the older vehicles which did not come with these badges.

Sort of like a 318i with dual or quad exhausts.

Just a fwiw the Msport badges first appeared on the 530MLE and subsequently on the center wheel caps on 530 Mahle wheels in shades of grey

I actually kinda like the idea of the historical badge on an older car - if anything it makes *more* sense to me. But I think you'd need to be at least E36 era and before, E9X still seems too new (even though it's now pushing 20yrs old!!!)

I bought a quality set of heritage ones from Firi for my 760, and they looked pretty good, but I had a sense of impostor syndrome when I put them on, so took them off after a while and they normal ones looked much better in that context.

My X4 came with the heritage badges, and it looks nice in my opinion, offset against the sapphire black it does look the part. To each their own I guess. But if you ARE looking for heritage, get from Firi, his are awesome quality.
