Ridiculous price hike on electric steering box (f30)

I need to replace my electric steering box as it is now been damage following an accident on my suspension. I enquired about a new one in early August and they were going for around R9k for a brand new one at BMW. I now wanted to place an order for one last week and found out they are now R20k+. Does anyone know what's going on and why that may be the case? But also if the price may go back to normal at some point.

BMW prices change often monthly, had the same experience a few times. It's an update to their price list and that becomes the latest price.

Chances of it coming down to the old price are usually very low, unless it goes on special. This is something that happens on the fly and no one knows for sure if or when it will be on special.

Shew this is so frustrating and super costly. Buy yeah I get it, it is what it is. Still need the box whether or not the price changes so will have to order it anyhow.

Best bet is to try and ask nicely for a discount and see what happens.. If its a 'net' item, no discount applicable. I would suggest you give Auto Bavaria a call and speak to Deago/JP and see what they can do.

Did you perhaps not get a quotation ? (these are valid for couple days) but may help your cause in getting a discount off the current price.

I got a quote but it had expired last month already. was putting the order in only to find that the price has changed. Will definitely disclose to see if it helps.

The rack needs to be coded to the car as well. So good to use ISTA, etc
