A last resort would be an Ozone treatment. Ozone generator left in car for a few hours.

I've also used Meguiar's Carpet and Cloth Refresher to help with stale smells in the car.

I also have this available: Steriscent Mini Fogger

If you like, I'll bring each of these with to the skid pan day and you can have a whiff.

I do know tobacco odour is a real PITA to try and get rid of, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

Update

The car was meant to go in for the new sunroof.
However, there seems to be an issue with removing the windscreen, in order to access the glass sunroof panel.
The workshop says that they may need to contact PG Glass to help them 🤦‍♂️
Basically, it seems like a lot of work and may take a few days, at least.

Given the number of issues that I have picked up since taking delivery of this car, I have to weigh up whether it is worth keeping it or letting it go. Yes, all the repairs/replacements done so far have been on Maintenance Plan (which has expired recently) and I still have the benefit of the 2 year/180,000km extended Volvo warranty, but these issues are starting to irritate me...:mad:

If I can get my money back (which seems likely given what I paid and seeing that other cars of higher mileage are selling for much more than that), I will be selling the car. The extended Volvo warranty is fully transferrable, so at least anyone buying this car won't be left high and dry as issues are encountered...

My next car will need to be more mainstream, for sure.

The car has been sold

It is not a terrible car, one just needs to be aware that there are items that will likely get replaced as the car ages. The 2 year Volvo warranty will give peace of mind. The brakes and tyres were replaced in June 2022 and these are still great. The fuel consumption can be managed, but takes conscious effort to do so.

There is a niche and fanatical market for these cars, as evidenced in their used values. It is definitely not a mainstream car and that clearly has both pros and cons.

Crazy consumption for a 2.0. Thats what I get in my E39 V8 :ROFLMAO:

Must say I sont have much confidence in these cars reliabilities...my mate has a V40 and that car has been through 2 engines and 3 gearboxes, luckily all covered by warranty, but it begs the question how Volvo remains a going concern with all these warranty claims...

For some reason the 5 cylinder diesel Volvos are rock solid (not just the engines, but everything else too).

I’m sure you did all the necessary scenarios, pros and cons analysis, etc. before making the decision to sell so quick.

At least you can add this experience to your motoring journey so far. 😁

What’s on the cards next? If anything?
