White smoke in engine bay F82 M4

Hi all,

I notice smoke from my F82 M4 engine bay on startup, it seems more like vapour than thick smoke. After driving for a few minutes, it seems to go away. The strange part is that this only happens after my car has been standing for a while (not daily driven), however, if I drive it daily, there is no sign of smoke. Any ideas??

Thanks

Yep, that sounds like coolant leak, check the coolant bottle... it possibly has not hit the minimum level yet. Check the coolant reservoir.

Coolant leak. You can smell them LONG before there's a warning. On my F10 M5, it would vapourise on the turbos (I have PTSD from that smell LOL) so tracking it down the first few times was interesting. Because of all the fans, I somehow thought it was some burning debris from the road in the middle of the car somewhere. :ROFLMAO:

Funny enough, I couldn't smell this on my F30... nose is buggered... only visual inspection at Silverstone Radiators finally confirmed the issue...

The charge cooler is known to leak on the S55. BMW usually replaces it under plan if it leaks. If it wasn’t done under plan then it could be this.
