Yesterday I received a message from fellow forum member Wayne aka @Silverbird_96kw asking if he could bring in his immaculate VW MK7 R for a brake pad replacement. He’d already purchased a set of front Brembo pads and just needed them fitted.
If you know Wayne, you know he’s an absolute gent, so even though my Thursday morning was already booked, I told him to swing by later in the afternoon and we’d sort him out.
He arrived around 2pm, and before we got started, He took me for a quick spin in the R. With its mods, this car absolutely rips—proper quick and such a fun drive.👌
Once we were back, we got to work:
✅ Protective covers added to the driver’s seat, steering wheel & footwell—keeping it as clean as he does!
✅ Car moved onto the lift, front wheels removed, and old pads stripped out.
✅ Calipers, caliper brackets & hardware washed to get rid of brake dust and grime.
✅ Brake calipers reset.
✅ New Brembo pads treated with anti-squeal spray & caliper brackets with anti-seize paste.
✅ Discs cleaned with brake cleaner to remove loose dust.
✅ Everything carefully reassembled with thread locker on bolts, and wheels refitted.
Once done, we reminded Wayne to go easy on the brakes while they bed in.
Later in the evening I followed up, and his response summed it up perfectly—he was extremely happy with the service and care his MK7 R received.
