Why would it take 14 days for a front end respray?

Its an estimation... I actually want them to do a good (if not perfect) job so im not rushing them at all. Panel shop did say it should be between 6-14 days.

A car standing in a workshop that long usually comes back with more scratches, just saying....

Hoping it wont need to sit there for that long. I will keep popping in to check on progress.

14 days? Geez, two days is excessive already IMO.

Estimate Mike... Between 6 and 14 days. I understand that the panel shop already has a back log of hail damaged cars and other cars they are working on. I dont want to put pressure on them either as i want a perfect job.

Hi Arbee

Why dont you ask them when they will be less busy and take it to them then ?

That was the plan, but im not willing to wait till June. Spoke to them again now, they said it should take 3-4 days but they tell clients 6-14 days to beat their expectations.

Arbee i trust you'll take before & after pics...

I will... however, the stone chips are not so noticeable in pics. Infact, the front look so much better in the pics than in real because of the chips.

But yes, there will be pics. This weekend i will snap before pics.

Had work done by Alberante, they do good work

They took longer than expected though, had to follow up daily with them.
But if there are no parts on order, it should be fine.

Yeah, had my ex-POLO GTI done by them and was great. They also did take longer than expected with the Polo also. Hence the estimate... I didnt rush them then also.

Might need to get a new bumper, will leave it to them.

Just for you... Some before pics. This is where most of the damage is, mainly the bumper. Fenders are actually clean, but i guess to "blend" the color they need to do the fenders. Bonnet is a tricky one, its got a bird poo stain (i suspect), clay didnt even remove it. Didnt get a pic of it but its there. Apart from the bird poo stain, the bonnet has chips on the front half, not as noticeable as the bumper as it has not been painted since it rolled out the factory. The bumper on the other hand has been sprayed, mid last year.

Honestly, i cannot understand how my OCD has left me with this kind of damage for so long. Im really upset with myself... LOL.

Anyways, i cannot wait for it to be done and back to its glory.

Hoping i can VPS it soon, before damage starts to chip in again... See what i did there!!

Panel Shop Update:

I dropped the car off late on Tuesday. This morning, they where done sanding down and preparing the bonnet and fenders. The bumper and grilles are being replaced as they are cracked. So thats been ordered. Paint work will start once all parts have arrived.

I get an sms atleast twice a day and an email from them with pics atleast once a day. This is great service so far. I will be in their area tomorrow so i will by and have a look.
