Battery had a good innings, if I'm not mistaken, it's still the oem battery since 2007.

It's better to replace with a Varta, 100amp :coolShake:

I have heard about Varta but have never experienced them. Better than OEM?

Varta have or had links to bmw forgot how but you can google that. Provably OEM. They're good batteries. Pricey though.

I have only just gotten a chance to get pricing for the battery issue I am having.
VARTA-H3 Silver 100Ah = R2440,85 | no stock available 3-4 days lead time.

Lyndhurst Auto | R2026.68

Battery Centre Randburg | R2275 for Raylite battery

Looks like OEM is the way I am going to go.

Finally got a chance to fit the battery after the long weekend and one of the longest Monday's I have experienced thus far. Zombie Mode at work!

Overall easy to replace just a royal pain in the arse to remove the harness on the positive terminal. Patience, you will learn it.
Luckily I did not have to deal with IBS, I have always had it my mind to keep light switch on when working with the electrical system on the E46, did the same here not sure if it helped. Anyway the only thing that reset was the time, date and radio presets were intact.

Removed battery

Thanks all for advice.

Next I will be fixing the passenger door lock.

Now for a long awaited drive....

Well done dude.
The last time i had my battery replaced, there was a whole procedure that had to be done.
Like open and lock the doors, something with the ignition and lights.
All this was part of some coding procedure.
Maybe find out about this procedure or if someone can shed some light on this

One of the things that delayed me was the reading up I was doing on this cars battery replacement. The only procedure that would have been needed would have been if I have IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) which is on the negative terminal. This apparently needs the car to be resynced with new battery especially if you put in a battery with higher Amps.

I have checked all settings on the car all works well.
