Yep, for motorplan that close to the end it makes sense - let me guess, they insist that now you are going to potentially have suspension and drivetrain problems due to non-BMW Approved tyres! Well that's what they wanted me to believe! :nonono:

Those Advans are great tyres!

well that and more, was told the whole m/p will be cancelled,as well as my insurance will be cancelled, yep insurance,go figure.

was also told that i will be a danger on the road towards other road users.
well when i asked them to explain that and why it isnt approved, they couldnt answer, they also recon yokahama is a rubbish tyre.
strange, but tsw recons it is better than bridgestone.
well dont know who is telling the truth, and cant compare yet,but have had yokahama in the past on a golf and cant complain.

get the impression that bmw dont really care about there customers

It is exactly the same story when I had a fight with them regarding the Hankook RFT's - first thing they want to do is pull funny faces as though to insinuate that the Hankook's are bad tyres. In the meantime the Approved Conti RFT's are absolute rubbish by comparison and way more expensive - I went as far (and not an exaggeration) telling them that my Isuzu DC is (at the time) more stable than my 330i! Hey?!

Well, all they said was that if I were to use non Approved tyres I would risk suspension and drivetrain claims not being covered by motorplan, so pretty much the most vital things. Then I asked them to explain how other tyres can damage the car - their answer was that the sidewalls are then too soft. But in the previous breath the guy said that I can use non-RFT BMW Approved tyres which of course also have softer sidewalls - BS detector goes off!

I then asked them if any of the local fuel is BMW Approved (and thoroughly tested) - apparently not, but it is SABS Approved, just like other tyre brands...

What was so funny for me was that literally that same day I found an industry news item indicating that the new 1 Series was set to use Hankook as one of the OEM suppliers for RFT's! :roflol:

(tag) Rant :bangdesk:

Basically, I have spent a small fortune on tyres thanks to this cr@p! Have a pair of hardly used but perfect Hankook RFT's just sitting looking pretty in the garage, then bought a new pair of Conti RFT's with the handling issues enduring, still have them on the old wheels - and then from all the visits to the tyre fitment places damaging my wheels factor in the refurbishing costs. Literally almost two years of owning the car and almost by accident having these Bridgestone RFT's that came with the used wheels I bought have I finally found an Approved tyre worth having - now my motorplan is up! To put it bluntly, they'd rather insist that you support their OEM suppliers than have the car that performs the way it should, and by that I mean stable and safe - twitchy and nervous and tramlining is not safe!
