Welcome to the forum :bravo:

Your GTI was very hot, and clean too.

How much wkw did it make after those mods?
I had an Audi A4 1.8T (140KW red T) with same engine,so keen to see what your baby made.

Keen to see what you do with your new ride :cartel:

Going to an older car, but higher up in class, does it feel more luxurious and solidly built?

My advice is get used to the engine characteristics and drive for a bit, then down pipe and remap. You will love it even more!

Congrats on your 120d. They are fantastic cars, I had a 2005 120d e87 from 2008 to 2016, then moved on to the 330d e90. Still miss her sometimes lol

Thanks FILV,

Bone stock she made 110wkw and 245nm, after i was finished she made 155wkw and 350nm. Sure she would have made more if i had her dyno tuned but never got time to do that.

Yeah its weird for me going backwards in year models but must say the build quality is way better, car is solid and feels like an expensive car!

Ill first drive her as is, not in such a big rush on performance mods but rather to get her looking as good as possible.

Im planning on doing the swirl flaps and egr this weekend hopefully, i can only imagine how dirty the EGR must be LOL but maybe the previous owners cleaned it? we will see.

I must say that the drive is completely different to the polo, but then im just used to the polo after 6 years lol. But im getting used to her!

NIce one bro - post some pics of the inside of the car - really keen on seeing how the aftermarket radio sits

Will do, it doesnt look bad its just that the current radio has the slide out 7inch screen, so the radio sticks out further that normal aftermarket radios.

Reception is bad so need to check why that is, its not a bad radio being a telefunken, it has TV that doesnt work, probably needs some antenna and also has maps etc that also doesnt work...think the map files needs to be loaded.

I want to redo the inside silver with brushed 3M vinyl at some stage, trying to get some off cuts from work. :)

Ok so this morning i started stripping and at one point i stopped and though to my self what have i done lol!

Managed to remove the intake and inspected the swirl flaps and mine is metal and not plastic and they all are in great condition. Nothing was loose and all screws nice and tight. So i decided to put them back in for now until i get my cnc blank off plates.

Too mt suprise the egr is very clean! I expected it to be all clogged up ect but nope, it was clean.

Vacuumed the cabin filter and airfilter, found the left strut bar basically loose.

Overall the engine is really clean, no backyard fixes or mods and all original which makes me happy

Here are some pics i took.

Thanks Ash! We definitely need to do a dop and tjop!

UPDATE:

Car is still driving great but i see i have the common clutch judder in 1st gear when i sit in bad traffic once the clutch gets warm. Its not that bad but irritating cause the Polo used to do the same even with upgraded clutch. Clutch does not slip, even did the 3rd gear test and car stalls immediately so clutch does not slip (Clutch was replaced under motorplan in 2008)

Also when i press the clutch in for long while in 1st gear, it seems like the clutch looses pressure as the biting point goes up and then i battle to get it out of 1st gear and into second. After one or two pumps then the clutch is back to normal, this might also be the cause of the judder perhaps. Not sure if this will be the slave or master possibly loosing pressure.

Will be doing the CDV delete sometime soon, hopefully this weekend to see if this helps with the judder because alot of people on this forum and over seas forums have claimed that it betters the judder.

One other thing, Since removing the intake mani to check the swirl flaps, it feels like the car is down on power? Now ive made sure everything is nice and tight thinking it might be a leak or perhaps the ECU reset because the battery was off so long changing the "learned" driving style? i dont know.

Any advice would be appreciated on the above issues.

Thanks guys

To me your clutch issue sounds like either the master or the slave is leaking or the car is low on fluid. check for leaks under the car, if they are leaking past the seals you can usually see drops on the floor if the car is parked for a while. leaking past the seals will definitely happen more as the car gets hot as the fluid will get thinner.

Try putting cardboard on the floor over night and see if there is anything there in the morning.

I have read that quiet a few guys experience a loss in power after fiddling(Most of them have removed the flaps) with the swirl flaps but it usually comes rite after a few days according to them.

Thanks for the reply,

I have checked for leaks as my garage has a concrete floor and do not see anything on the ground. The Fluid level is good as i checked it this weekend after doing the swirl flaps although i did not remove them which is why im wondering why the power seems down.

One of the things i thought of is perhaps the car had software loaded and the ECU defaulted with the battery removed for close to two hours but not sure if this is possible.

Car feels better and consumption is good, perhaps its just me thinking its down..lol

As for the clutch, i have heard that the slave or master can leak internally so you wont see the leak and could cause the pressure loss.

Update time:

CDV has been deleted. Its true what everyone says, the car drives way better without the CDV. Bled the system but did not have much air in because i clamped the pipe with a clamp with some rubber hose over the teeth.

Also fitted my sound. One of the previous owners had upgraded the split system so thats a score.

Good to know, Thanks!

Other issue is, i have this dark brown leather and my guess is the Motorsport BMW's probably came out with red or black and not brown. But will search the webs for set.
