Some idiot damaged my Acid Green

Hi Guys,

Well Saturday morning at around 2AM when I made my way out of a club to my car, I was lucky enough to find some idiot in a white polo that was drunk and reversed into my car, leaving a HUGE scratch from the left rear door all the way through to the back!! It looks horrible. I know that a respray on only those areas wont work since the rest of the paint is 11 years old respectively, so a full respray will be neccesary, and I am sure insurance will cover it.

Now comes the question, and I know it sounds silly. Acid Green is a rare and AWESOME color, I can do a respray in the same color but since I am now at this stage with my car, I was thinking what other sweet color's there are I could use.

What color's do you guys have in mind. I was thinking about Alphine white, Technoviolet maybe, thats what I have sofar..... Put some suggestions down here!

Cheers

Going all AW is going to be a tough one. Covering colour with white is a LOT of work.
I'd guess R16k for the total car.

I'm sorry to hear what happened! I wouldve been beside myself! :cursin: :bawling: Let's just leave it at that!

I dont like changing a car's colour, unless of coarse you turn the car inside out! My personal opinion would be to keep her the nice unique colour she is! The respray your entire car is going to cos a arm, leg and a couple of testicles too! I know the insurance will cover it, but I dont think they will cover a complete new colour!

I must however admit that white seems to tinkly my fancy too!

Ps. post a pic so that we can see what the damage is...

Where you come on with R16k bru? More like R20k and more! Also considering going, say for instance white, like you say Hellas, its going to take a few coates!

Friend of mine had his e36 325i completely resprayed (Morea Green) at the BMW bodyshop here in Montague Gardens, this was in 2005 and they charged him R28k

The other option is a cousin of my next door neighbor's brother in law who knows a guy that can borrow a spray gun and some paint. Apparently he only charges R500.:mmm:

Personally I'd go with the insurance... R16 is a guesstimate since a mate's car was done for R12k about 2 years ago.

Yeah I will take a pic and post it here, its horrible though, I didnt see the damage to well since it was dark but the next morning in the sun I could see how horrible it looked.

Yup got reg number of the car, already opened a case of personal damage at the police station against this dude!

Yeah I will prob stick with Acid Green, just gotta get a couple of quotes now.

What places do you guys know if that I might be able to contact for a respray ?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, take your car to a reputable panel shop for the respray. There is nothing worse than the spray shops that dont even bother removing trim and rubbers before shooting the paint.

Changing the colour of car is something that should be done properly... that means having the car stripped right down to the bone, then respray, then put everything back together. Respraying with the same colour will not only be cheaper, but it will same you a lot of time as well.

And lets be honest... this is actually looking very hot

Tel me about it... I've recently discovered that one of my car's previous owners had the car resprayed, but the paint has started to flake on the roof cos they did a kak job. I got quoted R1500 just for the roof, but I also get a lifetime guarantee. Don't think I'll keep my car long enough to respray though...

Sux to hear, lucky you got his reg. If you are gonna respray the whole car then go British Racing Green, would be easy considering your car is green already.

NICE, British Racing Green!! Only a Beemer can make that look goooood!

Evidently I dont know the right people here Hellas, Freerider!

When I had my Audi, (this was 3years ago, it was red) - not that I am particularly into red! I was quoted R20k for a full respray. No body work needed cos Audi's dont rust! The clear Lacquer was starting to peel off the paintwork!

I don't know if I like the BRG on a BMW... The previous bubble shape Audi's used to pull it off, prolly cause it came out as a stock colour, but I don't want Germany covered in Britain...

Well either way I am looking at around a R2.5k buy in from my wallet to be able to get it resprayed. now I have to get 2 quotes from panelbeaters and see what they say!

Will keep you guys updated.
