Some HDR Photography (e46 330i material)

I was messing around today with some HDR photography using Photomatix Pro and Photoshop cs6. Each photo is made up of 3 exposures with 1 stop difference between each exposure:rollsmile: Taken with a D7100 and 35mm lens at f8 and ISO100 using auto bracketing.

A bit too bright ? Nice still the lines of the E46 are something we'll just never see again.

Thanks guys. Yup it is a bit bright. I took those around mid day when the sun was at its brightest. HDR basically blows out the highlights and shadows to the extreme so if you look at the paintwork it almost gives it that mirror finish so you see reflections of the surroundings and even a bit of the sky in the windows. Also as you say it shows off some of the lines and curves of the car which you don't always see in everyday photos.

agreed from a "normal" photography point of view, but what you have achieved is bordering on "ART" work.
:bravo:

If I am honest I am not a fan. Also I think you are misunderstanding what HDR does, it not supposed to blow out shadows and highlights, that is what just increasing the contrast (or legacy contrast in PS) does. It is supposed to mimic the dynamic range of the human eye, which simply means being able to discern detail in both high and low light portions of the image. Looking at the pics the dynamic range has actually been reduced.

it looks wicked no doubt but way too bright.....
It gained some detail in certain aspects but also lost detail in others, like the wheels......

But photography is about having fun so big ups for turning an everyday picture into something eye catching

Thanks for the inputs guys:thumbs: Much appreciated. It was actually my first attempt at HDR using Photomatix so I wanted to try something different from the usual:rollsmile:

I actually intentionally blew out the highlights and shadows to accentuate the lines and reflections:rollsmile: I just need to figure out how to save the processed file as RAW again so that I can reduce the exposure in selective areas with Camera Raw.
